Together with his pet Chainsaw Devil named Pochita, Denji is forced to work as a Devil hunter to pay back the debt left by the absence of his father. The trailer opens on a shot of Makima, one of the series’ main characters, flanked by two Devil hunters, as she walks into a warehouse filled with mutilated bodies. The second arc of the Chainsaw Man manga just started, with new chapters published every Tuesday and available to read on Shonen Jump.

If that weren't enough, the footage also confirms the October window for the anime's release on Crunchyroll.

Based on the widely popular and award-winning manga of the same name written and illustrated by Tatsuki Fujimoto (Fire Punch; Look Back; Goodbye, Eri) and serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump, Chainsaw Man is directed by Ryū Nakayama (Fate/Grand Order Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia; The Rising of the Shield Hero). Dubs will include English, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, and German.

It looks just bonkers enough to get me interested as there’s clearly a lot of pathos when it comes to the struggles of these characters as they try to deal with the changes happening both to and around them. Denji is betrayed and mortally wounded, but as he’s about to die, he makes a deal with Pochita and is saved. Originally serialized in Shōnen Jump starting in 2018, the series is a violent exposition on human fear, and the deals we make with our own devils.

She narrates an incident that took place a little over a decade prior in the US, where a mass shooting led to the emergence of a Gun Devil. After her short moment of exposition, we are shown snippets of different characters, Denji, Makima, Aki Hayakawa, another Public Safety Devil Hunter, and Power, a Fiend and a Devil Hunter who is part of Makima’s squad. Some humans have been able to join forces with Devils, being granted special powers and earning the title of Devil Hunters. The protagonist Denji is one such human who, after being betrayed and left to die, forms a contract with his pet Devil named Pochita, which saves his life and makes him becomes Chainsaw Man, a sort of Devil-human hybrid with chainsaws jutting out of his body. In the world of Chainsaw Man, Devils and Devil Hunters exist and seek each other’s mutual destruction.
