Elvis, hauntings and history: A look at the Shreveport Municipal ... (Shreveport Times)

Did Elvis play the Muni? Is the ghost of Hank Williams Sr. there? Learn all about the history of the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium.

The building has undergone a multiplicity of uses, besides a music venue, from being a morgue and housing for troops in transit. But, she is certain he was not in the fancy slacks and coat that actor Austin Butler, who portrayed Elvis wore in the movie. "Who was your favorite person you saw play here." One of Shreveport's living Musical legends James Burton knows the stage of the Municipal well. "It's a great historical building and I was, 14 when I played there with a staff band. "We find with so much traffic through there it's going to be active. During one investigation where she participated, a disembodied voice gave a clue to who it might be. The brick, old-school exterior called Art Deco and the building took 3-years to construct. "I think they should have shown a little bit more, cause it wasn't mentioned a hold lot. Because that's really what started his (Elvis) career," said Dianne. Imagine this, Akridge and her friend passed by Elvis on their way to get sodas at a concession stand. He was listed third on the playbill below Slim Whitman.

Barbara Eden Recalls Elvis Presley Asking Her About Marriage and ... (PEOPLE.com)

Barbara Eden shared her memories of working with Elvis Presley — and him telling her about Priscilla — during a panel at Christmas Con.

And I said, 'Well, you know, if the two of you are a team, you'll be fine.'" "He said, 'How do you have a marriage in Hollywood? How do you do this will all the stuff going on?'" Eden shared. "He didn't get the girl and he died — and he was fabulous! I think it was the only film he did that he got really good reviews for his acting and he didn't sing a song. And in between shots, when they were fixing the lights and everything, he'd get his guitar out and he'd sing. … His fans hated it, but the critics loved it, and he was a joy to work with."

When Elvis met 'Jeannie': Barbara Eden on working with the King ... (The Commercial Appeal)

Eden will discuss her experiences working with the King during an Elvis Week event. The "I Dream of Jeannie" star described Elvis as "a very fine actor" and "a ...

For one thing, Eden was married, to actor Michael Ansara, and Elvis was "a huge fan of my husband," Eden said. And he set up a table on one of our soundstages with Elvis memorabilia for sale, and we got a giggle out of that." More significant, the 20th Century Fox production arrived in theaters only one month after Elvis' first post-Army release, "G.I. Blues," a colorful, tune-filled, upbeat romantic comedy that was a huge hit for Paramount. The contrast was stark, and the lesson reductive: When making an Elvis movie, stick to the formula. In 2008, one of the Warhol Presley portraits sold in auction to a private owner for $100 million. He was kind enough to send her an autographed picture, and by the way, she still has it by her bed." Born Barbara Jean Morehead in Tucson, Arizona, Eden was a beauty pageant winner (the Miss San Francisco of 1951), chorus girl, club dancer and stage actor before she signed a contract with 20th Century Fox in the twilight of the so-called "studio era" of filmmaking. In 1965, Elvis worked with Ansara in Presley's 19th feature, "Harum Scarum." (Eden and Ansara divorced in 1974; she's been married since 1991 to Jon Eicholtz, an architectural engineer.) Obviously, "Flaming Star" offers much grimmer Presley fare than the likes of "Girl Happy" and "Fun in Acapulco," while also offering only two songs: the title theme, and the brief "A Cane and a High Starched Collar," which Elvis performs during a party scene. Pacer is accused of being a "godless savage" by the white settlers who don't trust him, while his brother Clint (Steve Forrest) is said to be "the only real white man in the family." "He had good manners," Eden said of Elvis. "He was a gentleman. The session will make for a busy Aug. 15 for Elvis fans: At 8:30 that evening, the gates of Graceland open for the annual candlelight vigil, during which hundreds of people will make a pilgrimage to Elvis' grave in recognition of the singer's death on Aug. 16, 1977. Set in 1878, the movie is no escapist musical love story but an almost song-less Western about racism and identity from Don Siegel, the director revered by cinephiles for such movies as "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" and "Dirty Harry."

If the movies make more in theaters and on VOD/Blu-ray by doing this, and the loss in HBO Max subscriptions is minimal, then it looks like what appeared to be the “new normal” may just go back to the way it used to be. Needless to say, this sucks for anybody that was looking forward to watching Elvis on HBO Max, and really just anybody that subscribed to HBO Max because of the expectation they would be able to watch theatrical releases quickly on the service. While it has been confirmed that Elvis will arrive on HBO Max at some point, no new release date has been announced.

'Elvis' Dances Past $250 Million at the Global Box Office (Collider.com)

Much like The King of Rock and Rock himself, director Baz Luhrmann's Elvis is still making noise well past its prime. The second-biggest music biopic of all ...

Domestically, the film made $3.7 million this weekend, taking its total to $136 million. At nearly 160 minutes long and featuring some of Luhrmann’s most extravagantly idiosyncratic filmmaking, Elvis' success was hardly written in stone. Elvis added $4.5 million this weekend from 70 markets, pushing its overseas gross to $114 million.

How to watch Elvis at home and when does Elvis come to HBO Max? (woman&home)

If you haven't been able to catch Baz Luhrmann's musical biopic Elvis at the theater, here is how (and when!) you can watch Elvis on PVOD or stream it.

Anna’s words have appeared on Time Out New York, the Huffington Post, Fortune, Forbes, Us Weekly, Bon Appetit and Brooklyn Magazine, among other outlets. Elvis will be on PVOD, premium video on demand, starting August 9. So that got the fire burning. Fun fact: Austin actually sings throughout the production. No word yet on an exact date, though. The length of the film might be one of the reasons why folks are curious about when they’ll be able to catch Elvis on PVOD and on various streaming services like HBO Max.

'Elvis' Isn't on HBO Max Yet, Here's Why (PopCulture.com)

Baz Luhrmann's epic Elvis Presley biopic Elvis should be reaching HBO Max this week, but it's not. The film will be available to rent or buy through ...

Then, subscribers began discovering that some titles were disappearing from HBO Max. Finally, during Thursday's quarterly earnings call, Zaslav confirmed that HBO Max and Discovery+ will merge by the summer of 2023. Sources told Decider that the 45-day window will only be followed on a "case-by-case basis." Another source told Decider that Elvis will reach HBO Max eventually. For 2022, the company gave movies a 45-day theatrical exclusive window, meaning that subscribers didn't have to wait too long to see The Batman and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. Sources told IndieWire on Aug. 3 that Warner Bros. Discovery will not add it to HBO Max for subscribers, another chaotic sign of the changes behind-the-scenes at the recently-merged company. The film will be available to rent or buy through video-on-demand services on Tuesday though.

Elvis – his greatest hits on film (Dawson Creek Mirror)

As far as music biopics – this is your (pink) Cadillac – no question. Presley's backstory in presented very much in a comic book/superhero fashion.

It is amazing to think Parker lived until 1997. A few of the Fincher-type title cards are a bit distracting – but otherwise this is a fitting film about the life and times of The King. It is no small thing when Tom Hanks is arguable the only distraction in the movie – his presentation of Parker is fine – and Hanks was probably aa great choice from the Presley Estate POV.

We Saw You: Elvis is Everywhere at Elvis 7s Rugby (Memphis Flyer)

Elvis recordings and an Elvis trivia go on while rugby games are played. This is who you do not want on your rugby team ...

I stood in muddy water in a tent with a bunch of soggy players while rain pelted the roof. For over 30 years, The Memphis Flyer has hit the streets every Wednesday morning with a blend of serious hard news and Memphis’ best entertainment coverage. “Maoris are indigenous to New Zealand and are part of the culture.” I’d love to have one.’ I literally took off the shirt I was wearing and gave it to him. He wondered if the man was disturbed by the shirt. “That year the Elvis 7s T-shirts were based on the fact that Rugby World Cup was being hosted in New Zealand,” McCall says. And he gave me the shirt he was wearing.” I actually covered the event one year when it poured. And, he added, “After that first year I think we had 12 teams. This year’s shirt featured a drawing of Elvis in a rugby uniform with long socks. The winner is usually given some kind of an Elvis memento. It’s such a uniquely Memphis thing.

The movie that introduced "A Little Less Conversation," 1968's "Live a Little, Love a Little" also contains one of Elvis' more far-out songs. It whistles." 9.
