Meter and charge it to unleash a short-range pulse disabling Ghost movement. Digital pre-orders include Advance Access to Slimer, a Custom Particle Thrower and Proton Pack, and special clothing colorways. “The reaction from fans of Ghostbusters has blown us away,” said IllFonic CEO Charles Brungardt in a press release.

Developer Illfonic has announced that their asymmetrical multiplayer game 'Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed' arrives October 18th.

The premise for the TV series sees the future envisioned by Americans in the late 1940s imploding through a nuclear war in 2077. The account had previously posted other production photos, which are a hodgepodge of sets and costume design photos, including an appearance of the series’ iconic Power Armor. Jonathan Nolan will direct the show’s premiere episode, with Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner being the series’ showrunners. As a Ghostbuster, your job will be to find the ghost, capture it using the iconic gadgets from the series, and discover hidden rifts acting as the Ghost’s spawn points and teleportation portals, and destroy them. As the Ghost, you’ll be roaming around, scaring civilians and possessing objects to raise the overall Global Haunt percentage. Meanwhile, physical edition pre-orders includes advance access to the Basher Ghost, a rare Ectoplast skin, remote trap vehicle kit and a special P.K.E.

The game will feature a setup for four players and allows each player to take a role as one of the Ghostbusters on the team or even play as a ghost. The game does have a multiplayer focus and is one of the strong suits we believe so far for the game, however, Illfonic has expressed to Ghostbusters fans that it will also have a full story to experience as well, which can also be played online or offline as well. In other updates we have received about the game, it has been confirmed that the game will support bots, being both available in online or offline mode.

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is set to haunt players when it reaches its October release date, only a couple weeks ahead of Halloween.

The workbench in the Firehouse hub will let you choose your look, as well as your loadout. It’s reminiscent of a lot of asymmetrical multiplayer games, in which the enemy usually has plenty of tricks to stay alive (ironically) for as long as possible. The next game by the Predator: Hunting Grounds team, Spirits Unleashed will be, well, unleashed at the perfect time.
