Manchester City vs Crystal Palace: Haaland hat trick seals ... (NBC Sports)

Manchester City fought back from 2-0 down to beat Crystal Palace as a hat trick from Erling Haaland secured the impressive comeback win.

Three games into his Manchester City career, Haaland has three goals and one assist to his name, with Kevin De Bruyne off to a similarly red-hot start (one goal and three assists). City did struggle to create chances in the first half but the rest of the game saw Kevin de Bruyne, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva dictate the tempo (City had 75 percent possession) and Erling Haaland was on hand to finish off the chances created for him. After Saturday, the Eagles will have already played half of the big-six sides after just four weeks, with tricky challenges against Brentford and Newcastle preceding a visit from Manchester United to round out their first seven games. The fact that Palace were 2-0 up early on meant that City had even more of the ball than usual, as Patrick Vieira’s side sat back and tried to hold on to their lead. Peak Haaland drags City to win: A header, tap in and a powerful turn and finish. They held out until the 53rd minute before City scored but had Zaha been around they would have surely found him up top and he would have taken the pressure off them.

A huge blow for the visitors. What a start for the visitors! That ended 3-3, just like the scoreline at Newcastle in their last league fixture. It should've been a City free-kick, not a corner. The hosts do win a corner though. Palace make it three, but the goal's disallowed! Palace took the lead after four minutes through a Stones own goal from an Eze free-kick and then Andersen headed in after 21 minutes from a corner which shouldn't have been given as Cancelo was very clearly elbowed by Edouard in the lead up. A Stones own goal and Andersen header gave Palace a 0-2 lead at HT, but Haaland's hat-trick and B Silva's goal gave Guardiola's men the points. The Portuguese gets the ball on the edge of the box, he goes one way and then the other and his shot deflects off Schlupp into the back of the net! Join us for live coverage of the Premier League clash between Man City and Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium. A ball finds Foden and his cross finds Haaland who heads in from six yards! Manchester City in the end broke their resolve, but it was an admirable performance by Patrick Viera's side. Manchester City are leaking goals at an alarming rate, and it will be something Pep Guardiola will look to address. In the end Manchester City were too strong for Crystal Palace, but against a side closer to the summit of the table they may have paid a heavy price.

Manchester City 4-2 Crystal Palace: Erling Haaland scores hat-trick ... (Eurosport.com)

A fantastic hat-trick from Erling Haaland helped Manchester City recover from two goals down against Crystal Palace to secure a dramatic 4-2 comeback.

After completely being out of the game in the first half, Haaland has his third of the second half! Some fantastic one-touch football in the box following a corner sees Bernardo find Stones, and the defender plays in Haaland, albeit with a scuffed shot, and the striker has the easiest of tap-ins! It's Joachim Andersen who heads in from an Ebere Eze corner from the right hand side and City are once again done from a set-piece! He then showed just how good his turn of pace is in behind and the strength he has to hold off defenders for his third and final goal. It was a case of deja vu for Manchester City in the first half, as Crystal Palace's two-goal lead surely brought back flashbacks of last season's defeat to the Eagles at the Etihad Stadium. City completed the comeback ten minutes later, as Haaland took his first chance of the game to head in Phil Foden’s cross beyond Vicente Guaita at the far post.

"You have to defend well for 90 minutes, 95 minutes, and in the second half we were a little less aggressive, maybe because we had already run quite a lot. "It's been a really good start to the season. I think we defended really well, we managed to score the two goals and knew they would be a different side in the second half. "We have the ability to score goals, but we are conceding a lot lately. "Haaland was also the second Man City player to score twice on his Premier League debut, following Aguero in August 2011. City 4-2 Crystal Palace: Stats of the Match (Manchester City FC)

Erling Haaland's first City hat-trick grabbed the headlines from our 4-2 victory over Crystal Palace, but there was a lot more to pick out from the Etihad ...

That doesn’t matter though, as long as the likes of Phil [Foden](https://www.mancity.com/players/phil-foden) and Ilkay [Gundogan](https://www.mancity.com/players/ilkay-gundogan) can find him like they did yesterday. His goals have come in a number of ways too; having raced clear of defenders and converted a penalty at West Ham, reacting quickest to a loose ball at Newcastle and a header, tap-in and cool finish from around 12 yards out on Saturday. His three goals on Saturday came from an xG of just 1.41 according to FotMob. These crosses can be delivered on the ground or in the air, and much of According to FotMob, he created a total of four chances – which was more than any other player on the pitch. 9 is the leading goal scorer in the Premier League at this early stage, with six strikes in his four appearances. His goal in the 53rd minute came from a mazy dribble that started out there and he moved there more formally when Riyad [Sergio Gomez](https://www.mancity.com/players/sergio-gomez) and Cole [Palmer](https://www.mancity.com/players/cole-palmer) had fewer from a City perspective. Palace also cleared the ball 27 times, with City having to take drastic action just three times. [Erling Haaland](https://www.mancity.com/players/erling-haaland), who was able to shrug off the physical presence of England defender Marc Guehi and meet a Phil [Foden](https://www.mancity.com/players/phil-foden) cross with a thumping header to score the equaliser. [Pep Guardiola](https://www.mancity.com/players/pep-guardiola)’s system relies on players reaching the byline and picking out a man in the middle. [Pep Guardiola](https://www.mancity.com/players/pep-guardiola)’s side had a whopping 74.3% of possession, taking 18 shots compared to just the two for our visitors.
