Mississippi pump failure leaves 150K people without safe drinking ... (USA TODAY)

The failure of water treatment pumps amid flooding this month in Jackson, Mississippi, has worsened an already dire water problem.

On Tuesday, the water pressure was at 78 pounds, only nine points off its target of 87. Lumumba said Monday that the U.S. President Joe Biden had been briefed on the crisis unfolding in Mississippi, said White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, who said that the federal government was prepared to help. “We have 10 tractor trailer loads of water coming in today.” The city had been under a boil-water notice since late July when tests found a cloudy quality to the water that could lead to health problems. Lumumba is a Democrat and was not invited to the Republican governor’s Monday night news conference. The city’s population is now more than 80% Black, with about 25% of its residents living in poverty. The larger one, O.B. Tate Reeves, who lives in Jackson, announced a state of emergency and warned residents late Monday to not drink the water. Those who did have water flowing from the tap were told to boil it to kill bacteria that could make them sick. Its tax base has eroded the past few decades as the population decreased — the result of mostly white flight to suburbs that began after public schools were integrated in 1970. Excessive rainfall had doused Jackson and central Mississippi throughout August, and flooding of the Pearl River caused pumps to fail at a Jackson plant, officials said.

Movie review: 'Emergency Declaration' is packed with thrills (ABS-CBN News)

This film boasts of a powerhouse cast led by superstars Song Kang-ho taking charge on land, and Lee Byung-hun taking charge in the air.

The story was reminiscent of classic American disaster film "Airport" (1970), where a man with a death wish boarded a plane and authorities scramble to figure out how and where to land the airplane safely. A little girl Soo-min (Kim Bo-min) and her father Jae-hyuk (Lee Byung-hun) noticed his strange behavior and reported it to the head stewardess Hee-jin (Kim So-jin). Among the passengers was a disgruntled young scientist Jin-seok (Yim Si-wan) who was plotting to kill everyone onboard.
