The Differences Between Rosacea and Lupus (Verywell Health)

Though rosacea and lupus are both inflammatory conditions that cause rashes on the face, they have different symptoms, causes, and treatments.

In addition, they may use non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like Advil (ibuprofen) to help with pain and inflammation. doi:10.1155/2012/834291 Quitting smoking, eating a healthy and well-balanced diet, and regular exercise can also help with symptoms. [Treatment for lupus](https://www.verywellhealth.com/treatment-for-lupus-189993) depends on the severity of the disease. Symptoms of lupus and rosacea can resemble one another. These can cause scarring and may be darker or lighter than the nearby skin. Scientists theorize that the immune system is triggered by genetic, environmental, immune, and inflammatory influences in lupus.2 Because of the similarities in their effects on the skin, they can be mistaken for one another. However, there are distinct differences in each condition.
