Apologetics “should demonstrate the reasonableness of faith and the hope the Faith can give in the face of critical inquiries,” Voderholzer, a professor of dogmatics, said. “However, it needs to go hand in hand with a ‘healthy' form of apologetics, insofar as the proclamation of the faith has never, and certainly not today, taken place in a merely benevolent and affirmative atmosphere.” Evangelization draws on “the beauty and radiance of faith,” Bishop Rudolf Voderholzer of Regensburg told CNA Deutsch, CNA’s German-language news partner, in

Coffee With Hitler by Charles Spicer review – polite society v the Nazis (The Guardian)

A fascinating history of the fruitless attempts by British high society to civilise, rather than appease, the Third Reich.

[Appeasing Hitler](https://www.theguardian.com/books/2019/apr/14/appeasing-hitler-chamberlain-churchill-road-to-war-tim-bouverie-review), focusing less on the well-known events and figures of the era and more on the gentlemanly amateur diplomats of the day. As Spicer writes, “they infiltrated the Nazi high command deeper than any of their countrymen to pass back better intelligence to both their government and its domestic critics”. The evils of the Nazi regime were obvious to anyone with either a social conscience or a knowledge of history, but it was more convenient either to ignore them, or, in the case of a group of well-meaning but misguided society figures, to attempt to mitigate them by means of the so-called Anglo-German Fellowship.

And converting a long-abandoned factory into a new headquarters for the environmental group Scenic Hudson. When are you gonna come back to your hometown and work with us in Poughkeepsie? We Americans spend 90% of our time inside of buildings, yet most of us give little thought to the role architecture plays in our lives and our health. Michael Murphy, MASS' executive director, had a very different path to architecture. Though trained at Harvard, MASS' founders say they learned the most important lessons of architecture during time they spent in -- of all places -- Rwanda. Their nonprofit firm, based in Boston, is called MASS -- short for Model of Architecture Serving Society, and they were inspired early on by the work of Dr.

Humane Society Offers 'Field Trip' Program for Shelter Dogs (U.S. News & World Report)

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) — The Portsmouth Humane Society is letting the dogs out.

But daylong field trips are still a great way to get them out of the shelter. “We’ve learned a lot about the pets that we’ve sent out on field trips,” Fechino said. About 100 dogs have enjoyed field trips since the program launched, with check-outs coming almost daily. Amanda McQuarry, the shelter director, said 70 is the maximum number of dogs the facility ideally can support, but 90 is the absolute cut-off. The mother and daughter cannot have animals where they live, so weekend trips are a great way for them to enjoy time with some furry friends. They typically seek dogs that do well around children or haven’t yet been checked out for a field trip.
