British line of succession to the throne: Who follows Charles? Who ... (al.com)

After more than 70 years on the throne, Queen Elizabeth II died today at age 96. Her eldest son, Charles, the Prince of Wales, becomes king at age 73.

Next in line would be any younger children of Queen Elizabeth’s father, meaning descendants of Elizabeth’s younger sister, the late Princess Margaret. As the change in criteria for the rules of succession only changed for children born in 2011 or later, she remains after her younger brother in the line. Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex – The younger of Charles and Diana’s two sons was born in 1984. Prince Andrew, Duke of York – The third child and second son of Queen Elizabeth. Anne, Princess Royal - Born in 1950, Anne is Queen Elizabeth’s only daughter and second-oldest child. Born in 2013, he is the eldest son of William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor - The first daughter for the Sussexes was born in early June, 2021. Born in 1982, he is the elder son of Charles and the late Princess Diana. Upon birth he was third in line to the throne but moved down after his nephews and niece were born. The eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip, Charles had been heir apparent, and Prince of Wales, longer than anyone in British history. Princess Charlotte of Cambridge – William and Catherine’s second-born child. The line of succession will continue through him, and should he have children when he grows up, they will follow their father in line before George’s younger siblings.
