Wizards, Warriors put on a show in first Japan preseason game (NBC Sports)

Wizards fans anxious to see how the new-look roster will fare should be encouraged by what they saw, particularly from Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis. And ...

Kuzma was attacking in open space and in the first quarter fired a nice pass to Morris off a spin in the lane, Morris just missed his attempt from the corner. Kuzma is at his best when he's aggressive off the dribble and that was the case in this one. There is a lot of potential between the two of them offensively and Friday morning represented a positive start. Moments later, Porzingis caught a pass off a pindown and quickly fired to Beal for a corner three. In the second quarter, Beal, curved off a screen to a pass from Monte Morris and quickly fed Porzingis for an alley-oop with a smooth and accurate lob. This was the first game Beal and Porzingis have played together, as Porzingis was acquired days after Beal's 2021-22 season was cut short due to left wrist surgery. Hachimura presented Stephen Curry with a bottle of his signature wine in a pregame ceremony, then produced oohs and aahs from the crowd with just about everything he did. Deni Avdija missed the game as expected due to his groin injury, while Will Barton was a late scratch due to lower back tightness. Hachimura got going in the first quarter with a tough layup over Draymond Green. While it was the first game of the preseason, it's worth noting the defending-champion Warriors had the league's No. The Wizards shot 31-for-83 (37.3%) from the field and 5-for-35 (14.3%) from three. On Friday morning, it was America's turn to throw their sleep schedules off, as the Wizards and Warriors tipped off at 6 a.m.

Recap: Three key takeaways from Wizards preseason opener vs ... (WashingtonWizards.com)

With today's early-morning tipoff in Japan, NBA basketball is back. The Wizards and Warriors both got their feet wet on Friday morning.

This led to a rebound and outlet pass from Porzingis to Hachimura for an and-one on the other end. But in the fourth quarter, with the main pieces on the bench, he got some run at point guard where he started to look more comfortable. Morris is a traditional point guard who rarely turns the ball over, knows how to get his teammates involved, defends well, and has a savvy feel for the game. Ultimately, this was a wonderful showing from Hachimura in front of his friends and family. He played in the starting unit next to Kuzma and Porzingis in the front court, and fit in nicely with each. Hachimura was dominant in his 25 minutes of action, putting up 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field to go along with nine rebounds and one steal.

Taj Gibson led the Wizards in three point shots made with two. Kyle Kuzma got a huge ovation from the Japanese crowd, showing how far his brand reaches. Why James Wiseman's preseason showing vs. Wizards has ... (Sporting News)

James Wiseman played 23 minutes off the bench and was the game's leading scorer with 20 points.

It's a similar story on the other end of the court. Raw as Wiseman still is, he adds a dimension to the Warriors that they haven't had in a long time — vertical spacing. 2 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, Wiseman saw his rookie season come to an end due to a torn meniscus in his right knee. "Just his understanding of spacing and defensive communication, being in the right place. Wiseman will get an opportunity to crack Golden State's rotation this season. He also grabbed nine rebounds, tying him with the Wizards' Rui Hachimura for game-high honors.
