The 18-year-old junior lightweight from Los Angeles upset Justin Cardona by majority decision in their non-televised, six-round fight on the Sebastian Fundora-Carlos Ocampo undercard at Dignity Health Sports Park. In the first fight Saturday, Brandyn Lynch dropped Roque Junco once in the first round and again in the third round on his way to a third-round TKO victory.
Sebastian Fundora is coming off the best win of his career. Can he keep his motivation going against Carlos Ocampo?
In fact, I like him to stop Ocampo with his pressure and his power. Here’s more info on the Sebastian Fundora vs. But even if Fundora isn’t at his best, I still like him to win. Fundora is a rising star with a 19-0-1 (13 KOs) record, and he’s coming off his most impressive win. In his most high-profile bout, Ocampo (34-1, 22 KOs) was stopped in the first round by an Errol Spence body shot in 2018. To make any money on Fundora, you might have to take him to win by stoppage in rounds 4-6 or 7-9, both of which are +300. “I want to show people that I’m hungrier than ever,” Ocampo said. “I got careless at the end of the first round, and I promise that it won’t happen again. I really wanted to show who I am in this division. Though Carlos Ocampo probably isn’t quite as dangerous as Erickson Lubin, who knocked down Fundora during their fight in April before Fundora dispatched him in the ninth round, Ocampo still could present problems. [Fundora was the slight underdog against Lubin](https://www.forbes.com/sites/joshkatzowitz/2022/04/09/erickson-lubin-vs-sebastian-fundora-odds-records-predictions/?sh=5e5b5ac77c9c), he performed well. - Gabriela Fundora UD-10 Naomi Reyes: Sebastian’s 20-year-old sister Gabriela improves to 9-0 (4 KO) with a win on scores of 98-92, 99-91, and 99-91, which were all fair. I thought Fox edged enough rounds in the second half of the fight to bring it to 96-92 for Kavaliauskas on my card, or six round to four. Vazquez (13-1, 3 KO) didn’t make weight here (missed by 2.5 lbs), but the fight went on. Martinez (15-0, 8 KO) just out-fought him, really, not totally dissimilar from the first time around, but give sincere applause to Ancajas (33-3-2, 22 KO), who fought his heart out trying to take the IBF 115 lb belt back from the Argentine, who was a big underdog the first time and a slight favorite this time. Kavaliauskas (23-2-1, 18 KO) dropped Fox (22-4, 5 KO) twice in the third round and had time to finish him there, but didn’t do it, and after the sixth, an old flaw of the “Mean Machine” was in play, where his output dropped off a cliff and he didn’t look inspiring whatsoever. (Slight by boxing standards, solid by most sports’ standards.) Ancajas landed a lot of good punches all night, but Martinez mostly walked through them and got his own back, and Ancajas just couldn’t totally keep pace with Martinez’s tempo and speed, and Martinez just had the better timing on top of the speed advantage. The idea that the fight was stopped too soon is kind of silly; nothing good for Macias-Montiel was happening from there, and he clearly wasn’t on Adames’ level. First of all, he was the one closest to the action, and the action was heavy and hotly-paced, for the most part. The fight was a good one, not a classic, but rugged, very physical, and fought hard by both guys. With the water spill, he made clear not to take a point, just to levy a fine, so he didn’t impact the cards. Reiss was criticized by fans watching at home, including some in our comments, and harshly on TV by Showtime’s Al Bernstein, for seeming close to stopping the fight after eight rounds. Bad Left Hook unofficially scored the fight 116-112 and 117-111 for Fundora on separate cards.

Towards the middle of the fight, I wanted to attack him to the body. During the third round, Ocampo was able to remain in the pocket, where he attacked the body of Fundora. Ocampo would also get close enough to attack the body of Fundora in an attempt to wear him down. As the bout progressed into the middle rounds, Fundora began landing punches with more regulararity, particularly straight and counter left hands to the head. Undaunted, Ocampo feinted enough to get Fundora to open up, allowing him to land a straight counter right hand to the head later in the round. "I still had to go in there and bang for the fans because that's what they came here for. That's when Fundora abandoned his early jab-heavy attack to engage in his preferred style of toe-to-toe action. Charlo is set to defend his titles against Tim Tszyu in early 2023. Ocampo, no longer having to navigate his way past Fundora's jab, was able to wing big hooks and overhand rights toward Fundora's head. Despite standing nearly 6-foot-6 with an incredible 80-inch reach, Fundora (20-0-1, 13 KO) has developed a reputation as a fighter who rarely jabs, instead preferring to fight inside. Ocampo continued to fight hard, but he was getting beaten up by the hard jabs from Fundora. Both fighters went at it in the 10th round with Fundora getting the better of the action. Those shots from the lanky Fundora seemed to sap the energy of Ocampo because he was getting hit far too much.
