It is all part of what God uses to call us to be saints and to renew all of creation, and all of the culture, in Christ Jesus. Unfortunately, much that is sacrilegious, and evil is done on or around Halloween, and our prayers of reparation are a very important antidote to this poison in our culture. This is of course the primary origin of the secular observance popularly called “Halloween” in our country. It might even be said that making us into saints is one of the greatest things God can possibly do, even more grand than the creation of the universe itself simply because the material world cannot argue with God in the way that we can. The saints who put their trust in Christ and lived heroic lives of faith, are the instruments that God uses to work miracles in our present world. Saints are not just the Statues to be honoured but they are biographies to be imitated. The feast of All Saints give us a model of holiness and that holiness comes in all sizes and shapes. The saints are in heaven but they are made on earth. But the truth is that God wants to use the intercession, and therefore, the mediation of the saints in our lives. It implies that the saints were saints from the cradle onwards.

When we visit kins and friends in the cemetery, I hope each one of us will try to contemplate our own life existence. 'The greatest gift God has given to mankind is death', said a passage in the bible. All of us will end the same way, ‘whosever you are, even if you are the loftiest of tower, death will surely overtake you’. Maybe in their bleeding hearts they are begging the Good Lord to end their sufferings. ‘A time to be born and a time to die’. It is a way of understanding who we really are, and what is life all about. My friends like Urbano Pineda, Romeo Vhon Macaspac and Raul Aquino will agree that like them and me are mortals and are only passing on this earth and we are on a journey and our time isn’t limitless. To many people, it is a time to reflect and do some soul searching. Though we extend condolences to the families and mourn their passing, we should believe that there is a season for everyone.
