NBA Odds: Magic-Thunder prediction, odds and pick - 11/1/2022 (ClutchPoints)

The Orlando Magic face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday. We continue our NBA odds series with a Magic-Thunder prediction and pick.

The prospect of a Paolo Banchero breakout is always there, but this Thunder team has been playing too well to back the Magic. A big reason for the Thunder’s recent success is similarly a big reason for their chances to cover tonight: the backcourt. The Thunder boast a below-average offense (21st in scoring) but a surprisingly frisky defense (12th in points allowed). The Magic have predictably been one of the worst teams in the league in the early portion of the season. Something to keep in mind when making a Thunder-Magic prediction is the health of Orlando’s backcourt. Four of the Magic’s seven games have gone under after a near 50/50 split last season.

Week three serves up three matches for the OKC Thunder. And similar to the OKC Thunder they are performing well defensively. However, and perhaps this is a selfish reason, I want the OKC Thunder to get VW (or Scoot Henderson) because SGA deserves to shine and not be forced to have to sit out the later stages of seasons. EST (7:00 CT) from the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City. The money line is set at +125 for the Magic and -174 for the Thunder. The Magic have a bunch of guys on their injury report including Jalen Suggs (ankle) and Cole Anthony (oblique) who are questionable. Losing both games on the schedule against Orlando could be the difference in that ping pong ball bouncing in favor of the Thunder. Per usual the game will be broadcast on Bally Sports Oklahoma or NBA League Pass. Yes, he’s projected to shift the future success of a franchise. That means sticking with four of the five guys who played during the win streak. So with that analogy in mind let’s assume Mark Daigneault goes with who has been getting the job done. the Orlando Magic.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander stepped to the free throw line late in the fourth quarter, and then came the chants.

We were kind of lifeless defensively in the third quarter, and he was on Wagner, and he tried to get it going.” “I was trying to get more balance in the units, I guess,” Daigneault said. (Poku) was on (Wendell) Carter, who gave us problems for the majority of the game until the stretch run. As we continue to ascend as a team, we’re gonna have to deal with more and more of those things. Daigneault staggered the minutes of Gilgeous-Alexander and Giddey. Gilgeous-Alexander was quick to compliment Banchero, who had 15 points and eight rebounds, but then Gilgeous-Alexander pointed at the reporter who asked the question. (Poku) did a good job of staying in there.” The 24-year-old Canadian guard is carrying himself with a different kind of confidence this season. Poku tied Jeremiah Robinson-Earl for the team-best plus/minus. Gilgeous-Alexander, the reigning Western Conference Player of the Week, scored at least 30 points in three of those four wins. SGA was equally tremendous defensively against the Magic. Now he’s shooting a ho-hum 97.5% from the line.

Reporters' Notebook: Thunder Earns Comeback 'W' Against Magic (OKCThunder.com)

It took a scrappy 14-2 run in the third quarter to turn the tides before a dominant fourth quarter effort sealed the victory.

It was a momentum boosting play as the Thunder fought back from as many as 15 points down in the frame. Nick: When Darius Bazley fought over a screen and drew an offensive foul on Bamba, it was the 26th offensive foul the Thunder had drawn through just seven games this season. Nick: Rookie Ousmane Dieng stepped right in off the bench and made a contribution on both ends of the floor.
