Sonic Frontiers fans are accusing Genshin Impact of using bots and promising Primogems in return for votes at The Game Awards.
This caused some Sonic Frontiers fans to allege that Genshin Impact used either bots or offered free Primogems, the game’s in-game currency, to garner those votes. Other nominees in the category are Elden Ring, God of War: Ragnarok, and Stray. The Players’ Voice Award is an award where the winner is 100 per cent determined by fans. With 41 per cent of the votes so far, it can be assumed that the newest Sonic game will win the award this year. Genshin Impact, another nominee for the same award, is currently in second place, and could cause an upset at the eleventh hour. The game with the highest number of votes after three rounds will be crowned the winner of the Players’ Voice Awards.

[The Player’s Voice award](https://thegameawards.com/brackets/players-voice?continueFlag=ebaa7bf494ef0b780af3b7f89a0f6f4e) is a 100% fan voted category unlike the other awards that are set to be doled out during Geoff Keighley’s yearly show, largely decided by a hand picked jury made up from influencers and members of the media. Stray meanwhile has a mere 1% of the vote.
Update (Tuesday, December 6): Yesterday, it looked like Sonic Frontiers would easily win the 100% fan-voted Players' Voice award at this year's Game Awards.

[PC Gamer's Sonic Frontiers review](https://www.pcgamer.com/sonic-frontiers-review/) wasn't among the glowing ones, but there are lots of positive critic reviews. The winners will be announced at the 2022 Game Awards this Thursday at 7:30 pm ET. "Sonic Frontiers won't win any awards, and it doesn’t need them," wrote Park in November. [Game Awards site](https://thegameawards.com/) (opens in new tab), but at last check, Genshin Impact had leapt into a tie with Sonic Frontiers. (Plus it released a bit late in the year.) I previously thought that Ragnarok might have a chance at upsetting it, but if the public and jurors vote like they are in the Players' Voice voting, it won't come close. The others in the GOTY category are Horizon Forbidden West, A Plague Tale: Requiem, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3. God of War: Ragnarok is in fourth with 8%, and Stray has the last spot at 2%. Right now, the leader of that public vote is overwhelmingly Sonic Frontiers. Unless the voting data starts displaying again (the site might just be overwhelmed), we won't know whether Sonic fans or Genshin fans will triumph until The Game Awards air on Thursday. As reported by [Kotaku](https://kotaku.com/genshin-impact-tga-sonic-frontiers-geoff-keighley-1849848710) (opens in new tab), many people are convinced that HoYoverse has promised primogems (Genshin Impact's currency) to players if its game wins the award. Right now (at the time of writing) Genshin Impact is currently in the lead with 52% of the vote, with Sonic Frontiers behind with 32%, followed by Elden Ring with 7%, God of War Ragnarok with 7%, and Stray with 2%. Just yesterday, it appeared that Sonic Frontiers was in the lead, which is why fans have been furiously encouraging each other to vote in the awards to keep it above Genshin Impact. That'll be fans of the blue blur trying to win an award for the recently released [Sonic Frontiers](https://www.gamesradar.com/sonic-frontiers-review/) at The Game Awards, which are due to take place on December 8, 2022. As the results show though, fans of HoYoverse's action-RPG can be just as determined and have so far successfully kept Genshin at the top spot before voting closes on December 8. The category is currently in its third round and features games like
The Game Awards Player's Voice voting so far has 2020 gacha game Genshin Impact absolutely demolishing big releases like Elden Ring.
It remains to be seen if it will win that category, but for now, it looks like it's going to easily win the Player's Voice category come December 8. [Elden Ring](https://gamerant.com/elden-ring-review/) only has 8% of the vote. The favorites to win going into the event this year are Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok, but a completely unexpected game is running away with the Player's Voice category.
The Game Awards put only one topic completely in the hands of fans, and that might mean Genshin Impact wins a big award.
What is driving players up the wall currently is that Genshin Impact arguably shouldn’t win the category for various reasons. A category that Genshin Impact is dominating. Many people have complained about that because if they only have 10% of the vote, the judges can easily overrule them, and thus the “obvious choice” will win over what some people would say is the “right choice.” One topic is 100% fan-voted via the “Player’s Voice” category.
As voting for the Game Awards Player's Voice award wraps up, fans of Genshin Impact and Sonic Frontiers are waging a vicious war of words online.
Some fans of both games have thrown unfounded accusations at the other’s fanbase as the competition has intensified, with Genshin Impact players making claims of vote rigging while Sonic Frontiers fans accuse HoYoVerse of bribing players with in-game items. Linking to charts from the tracking page for the contest, Genshin Impact fans cited the sudden spike in votes as "proof" of botting, though none offered definitive proof of those claims. After failing to receive nominations in other categories at The Game Awards, Sonic Frontiers fans have been pinning their hopes on the game’s excellent voice acting earning it the hotly contested Player’s Voice award.

Sonic Frontiers and Genshin Impact are at a dead heat for the Player's Choice Awards for The Game Awards 2022.
The top two contenders were Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us Part II, with the former proving to have won the hearts of more fans ultimately. Which is the wrong flow of events, even if such claims are based on Genshin Impact winning the Best Mobile Game award at last year’s The Game Awards. If all this sounds familiar, this is because a similar thing happened during The Game Awards of 2020, when the Player’s Choice Awards was introduced for the fist time. The person behind the account claims that both Sonic Frontiers and Genshin Impact are at a dead heat with 39% votes going to both. The “Sonic the Hedgehog” franchise is known by its fans to be critical of the games produced by SEGA.
It’s a game that presents a solid story, amazing character moments and some of the best controls since “Sonic Unleashed,” as it does everything fans of the series have wanted for years upon years. Aside from the fact that the game is almost entirely open world, “Sonic Frontiers” is the first game in the series to implement a combat system for Sonic. The open world experience is something the game takes to its fullest advantage, with several puzzles within the game ranging from small and simple to ridiculously complex. “Sonic Frontiers” is the most recent installment in the franchise. The game emphasizes their backstories, their strengths and what each character has managed to do without the help of Sonic: a missing element from previous games. Take the games “Sonic Forces” and “Sonic Colors: Ultimate” as an example of how fans saw the more recent titles.

From the enemy design to the combat, Sonic Frontiers elevates everything loved about previous titles. While this is still a good system, you just cannot replicate the number of abilities and combos that can be found in Sonic Frontiers. Sonic feels wild in Sonic Frontiers. Sonic music is always so good, we cannot pick either Sonic Frontiers or Sonic Colors over one another. Sonic Frontiers' open world was a great step forward; however, in some instances, the world felt somewhat empty in sections. [Frontiers, on the other hand, offers a great soundtrack](https://www.thegamer.com/best-open-world-soundtracks/) in addition to a theme song sung by One OK Rock. Colors does not offer an open world of any sort, and coming off of Sonic Frontiers, this is a formula that has to be in all Sonic games going forward. Sonic Colors offers an extremely vibrant world that you traverse through. With Sonic Frontiers, it almost felt that some of the narrative choices were puzzling. The Sonic series is home to some fantastic games, and between Frontiers and Colors, one game is better than the other. We will dive into stories, combat, levels, and more to decide whether Sonic Frontiers or Sonic Colors is better. In the year prior, [Sega](https://www.thegamer.com/tag/sega/) released [Sonic Colors Ultimate](https://www.thegamer.com/tag/sonic-colors-ultimate/), which was a remaster of the beloved Wii title.
