Hawks vs. Knicks Odds & Prediction: Betting Value on Over/Under (The Action Network)

Action Network analyst Joe Dellera previews how to bet Wednesday night's matchup between the Hawks and Knicks.

The Knicks will need to rely on their ability to get to the rack to succeed in this game if they want to take care of business. They have struggled offensively at times despite the strong play of Jalen Brunson but the defensive effort and execution has been fleeting and they are ranked 19th in Adjusted Defensive Rating (113.0). Over each of the Knicks’ and Hawks’ last 10 games, they are averaging 111.8 and 111.9 points per game, respectively. However, given the way these offenses have struggled, they often are just out there doing cardio on the offensive side of the floor. They are scoring just 94.7 points per 100 possessions in the halfcourt, and if they are unable to get out in transition, this Hawks team can be severely limited on the offensive end. The Hawks are taking the fewest percentage of their shots from beyond the arc (29.3%) and they are making just 32.7% of those looks (27th in the league). The Knicks are relatively healthy heading into this matchup, with only Ryan Arcidiacono (ankle) on the injury report. Atlanta has swung from being a team with elite 3-point shooting in terms of percentages and frequency to being one of the worst. They take 39.6% of their shots from midrange, the highest percentage in the league. One of New York’s major issues offensively is they cannot make 3s even if the basket was the size of a barn door. The Hawks are just 19th in Adjusted Offensive Rating and it has been difficult for them to gain traction on a nightly basis. Since Murray’s arrival, the Hawks have undergone quite a few changes as a team.

Knicks vs. Hawks: How & Who to Watch as New Rotation Takes Over (Sports Illustrated)

New York has apparently sidelined Derrick Rose and former Atlanta first-rounder Cam Reddish as they seek to form their first winning streak since Nov. 15-16.

With two teams facing off at a crossroads, Young has either a brilliant, nationally-recognized opportunity to get the Hawks back on track ... [reported feud with Hawks boss Nate McMillan](https://theathletic.com/3968243/2022/12/04/trae-young-nate-mcmillan-hawks-2/) has hovered over what's been a strong start for an Atlanta group looking to avoid another Play-In Tournament. New York is plus-21 with McBride on the floor over the past seven and he has gotten a chance to showcase his offensive talents during stints with the Knicks' Westchester-based G League group, averaging 22.5 points and nine assists. But he enters this game facing what's likely been the strongest bit of scrutiny in his professional career to date. That appears to be the case as the team prepares to go forth with a new nine-man rotation, a plan that's set to continue when the Atlanta Hawks come in to conclude a four-game stretch at Madison Square Garden. They did take down some elite competition to get to this point, introducing the new nine-man set in a sloppy yet successful 92-81 over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday evening.

Hawks vs Knicks Picks and Predictions: Young Binges on MSG (Covers.com)

NBA odds, picks, and predictions for the Atlanta Hawks at New York Knicks on December 7. NBA betting best bet and free pick analysis.

The Knicks also allow just the fourth-fewest points to shooting guards this season (21.15) which could be a good indicator in slowing Murray down this time. We know Young will push the ball and score plenty, but New York will look to minimize the production of everyone else around him. Tonight should bring similar results, as the Knicks don't have enough high-scoring options to set the scoreboard ablaze. New York enters this one with an 11-12-1 Over/Under mark on the season, while Atlanta brings a 13-11 O/U mark. Besides, the Knicks are a disappointing 2-4 ATS as home favorites. New York is surrendering 26.32 points per game to point guards this season (fifth-most in the NBA), which doesn't hold well in this game. New York could be playing with fool's gold here after a victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers, holding them to only 81 points. Dating back to their first-round playoff series in 2021, where the Hawks bested New York in five games, Young has made it a mission to pounce on the Knicks any chance he gets. Derrick Rose and Cam Reddish will not be a part of the new nine-man rotation Coach Thibodeau is rolling out. The Knicks are 10-12-2 and 3-7-2 at home. The Hawks are at 10-14 ATS and 4-6-1 on the road. The results were positive in the first test drive as New York defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 92-81.

Knicks Game Tonight: Knicks vs Hawks Odds, Starting Lineup, Injury ... (Daily Knicks)

The New York Knicks will host Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks for the second time on Wednesday night. Here's what you need to know ahead of the game.

New York is -120 on the moneyline and Atlanta is +102. The former is averaging 27.6 points and the latter is averaging 21.5 points. One of New York’s issues is that the roster is without a star, but Atlanta has two in Young and Murray. Or will the Young-Murray duo be too much for New York’s struggling defense? The New York Knicks (11-13) will finish off their four-game homestand by hosting the Atlanta Hawks (13-11) on Wednesday night. Young went with the latter option and missed Atlanta’s 117-109 win over Denver.
