Federal and State Energy Ministers have confirmed that clean renewable energy backed by storage is the centrepiece of Australia's electricity system, ...
All jurisdictions have agreed to deliver a Capacity Investment Scheme that will incentivise more clean renewable energy and storage into the electricity market, where and when we need it. We provide authoritative, expert and evidence-based advice on climate change to journalists, policymakers, and the wider Australian community. This decision is the strongest signal yet that Australia’s energy future is renewable, with all governments now working to deliver this.” The Climate Council is Australia’s leading community-funded climate change communications organisation. It also puts us on track to make deep cuts in emissions needed this decade to avoid more harmful climate change.” It was founded through community donations in 2013, immediately after the then-Abbott Government dismantled the Climate Commission.
Sky News Political Reporter Olivia Caisley says an announcement surrounding a new capacity mechanism is expected to support more electricity in the energy grid.

"We need to build more sovereign capability. "What we have decided to do is accelerate sensible market reforms and investment in new energy storage and the grid," he said. A national cabinet meeting on Friday is expected to canvas options to reduce the pressures of rising energy prices on Australians. The so-called Capacity Investment Mechanism - agreed at a meeting of federal, state and territory energy ministers in Brisbane on Thursday - will aim to make sure there would be a reliable supply of renewable energy, regardless of conditions in the market. Presenting Australia's first "state of the climate" report last week, Mr Bowen said a capacity investment mechanism would be key to reducing power prices. The nation's energy ministers have agreed to set up a scheme to boost investment in renewables and make the power system more reliable.
There is an expectation a capacity mechanism will be announced. This proposal is backed by the Clean Energy Investor Group, whose members control $24 ...

Giles has been a journalist for 40 years and is a former business and deputy editor of the Australian Financial Review. The previously proposed ESB capacity mechanism would never actually solve supply and cost of living pressures.” “Angus Taylor and Scott Morrison’s Coalkeeper is dead,” de Brenni told journalists. “Australian households, industry and the energy market are all moving with their feet towards more affordable renewable energy. Australian jurisdictions today took another step to turn that around for households and businesses.” It is not clear what that means for future tenders, and how these will dove tail with the national scheme.

The Department of Education and the NCSE awarded a four-year contract to UCD School of Education to design and deliver a new national online training programme for special needs assistants (SNAs) employed in Irish schools. The Department is committed to reviewing this programme after the four-year period has concluded. In 2018 the National Council for Special Education (NCSE) published a Comprehensive Review of the Special Needs Assistant Scheme. Two cohorts of SNAs have already graduated from the programme and it is intended that up to 3,500 SNAs will access the programme in total during the four year funding scheme that has been provided by the Department of Education. This pilot training programme, which was commissioned for a four-year period, is providing valuable information to the Department of Education and will inform ongoing policy considerations relating to future training options for SNAs. “I am pleased that we have secured additional funding in the recent Budget to increase the number of SNAs working in schools to over 20,000 by the end of 2023.
The UK government has “an increasingly antagonistic attitude” towards human rights that is weakening instead of strengthening protections for the public, ...
One Whitehall source said: “There is some concern over bandwidth, and so it might be held for that reason.” The public order bill, which is at committee stage in parliament, has recently drawn criticism from MPs and activists. More than 12,000 have arrived from the Balkan country via small boats this year, making up about a quarter of all Channel crossings. The UK’s policies towards refugees, asylum seekers and migrants are eroding their rights. “The bill of rights will strengthen human rights such as freedom of expression, while the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act improves the balance between the right to protest and the rights of others to go about their business.” There is “a high level of anxiety among stakeholders” about human rights protection in the UK, in view of the significant impact of recent and proposed legislation.
Stipendiary priests overseeing multiple parishes require a secondary support system, argues Paul W. Thomas.
He would be their link with the outside, the sign of their union with the universal Church.” The priest was God’s person — the one who made the divine presence visible and accessible — and this is now the role being envisaged for the local lay representative or team of representatives. He would be the animator of the individual members of the community, enabling them to make their various contributions. The gatherer would be “the focal point of the whole community, the one who would enable the community to act, whether in worship or in service. Sometimes a priest would come and there would be a celebration of Holy Communion; sometimes a Reader, and a sermon would be preached. But the continuity, the regular worshipping life of the church in that place, would depend on local people who pray and lead their neighbours in prayer faithfully week to week.”
