Jared Gordon](https://www.mmafighting.com/fight/13171/paddy-pimblett-vs-jared-gordon), the lightweight co-main event on Saturday in Las Vegas. A UFC fighter since 2017, Gordon has spent most of his time in the promotion at lightweight, where he’s proven to be an incredibly difficult out for anyone. The former Cage Warriors featherweight champion has made a name for himself on the back of his exciting fighting style and unique personality, and though he’s 3-0 inside the UFC,
Pimblett had his moments in Round 1 but generally appeared to land the less impactful strikes, despite two judges scoring Round 1 in Pimblett's favor. The ...
Pimblett improved to 20-3 as a professional and 4-0 in the UFC with three stoppages. Pimblett also revealed that he injured his foot early in the fight and that he wanted to work with Gordon on supporting charitable efforts. The strike count was low on both ends, but Pimblett landed a handful of solid elbows and knees with his back to the fence. Gordon held Pimblett against the cage for the majority of the round, but he landed barely any strikes of substance. Pimblett has a tendency to keep his chin high and Gordon made him pay for it early and often. All three judges scored the fight 29-28 in favor of Pimblett, but some judges awarded each fighter different rounds.

He lost if you think he won that fight you’re a fake. The state commission picks and controls the judges in place. This is a marketing skeem bull shit I won the first two rounds and coasted in the third. [@UFC]doesn’t control the judging. Can’t blame the UFC and say “they got Paddy their money train beat”. Too far along for it to be this much of an issue. And a 1-2. And a high kick. [December 11, 2022] It’s a miracle they kept him winning all the way till tonight.
Yahoo Sports scored it 30-27 for Gordon, but all three judges (Doug Crosby, Chris Lee and Ron McCarthy) had it 29-28 for Pimblett.
Paddy Pimblett remained unbeaten in the octagon with a unanimous decision victory - all three judges scored it 29-28 - over Jared Gordon.
Gordon backed Pimblett to the cage and started working for a takedown, but Pimblett shucked him off and started unloading with combinations. Gordon shot for a takedown, but Pimblett latched onto his neck for a choke without securing his hooks in. Gordon started putting the pressure on Pimblett as he looked to find a home for the left.
The Paddy Pimblett hype train is still on the rails, but its pace has slowed to a crawl. The Baddy from Liverpool, one of the most popular young fighters in ...
It also puts the UFC's matchmakers in a tough spot. Meanwhile, Pimblett failed on all three of his attempts and only controlled 0:35 of action on the mat. It was clear that he was the bigger, more powerful man in the cage. While the Brit survived that opening stanza, he continued to eat big shots into Round 2, some of them pretty substantial. And while he ultimately passed it with a unanimous-decision victory, the context of that result is impossible to ignore. Commentators Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier hummed nervously as it happened, sensing, like many viewers, that things could get bad for The Baddy in a blink.
Paddy Pimblett is "baffled" and "annoyed" after his controversial UFC 282 win over Jared Gordon.
“The control time, in the last round, yeah, he controlled me against the fence, but he didn’t do anything with it. Some people have said to me, they think I won all three rounds, even the third, because he never did anything with the control time. Twenty-three of 24 media outlets scoring the fight gave it to Gordon, with a little less than half giving the American the 30-27 shutout. “But I’ll be honest, I thought I won the first two, and I took the third round off. There’s a likely another conversation ahead about the MMA scoring and how judges look at the action they’re seeing. “Nowadays, fights get scored off damage, and I’ve got a cut lip, that’s it,” he said. The lesson for Pimblett was clear in retrospect: never bank on judges’ interpretation of the action. “You don’t see that at all from any others, because it’s 15 minutes long.” Whatever the split for and against him, the unanimous decision was the inescapable fact for the U.K. “I’m bit annoyed after people saying they thought I lost,” Pimblett said during the UFC 282 post-fight show. I think I was landing the better knees and little short shots in those positions when he had me pushed against the cage.” But I’m 4-0 in the UFC – haters going to hate, you’ve got to get on with it.”

Dawson is one of the hottest prospects in the lightweight division right now, with a 19-1-1 record, and seven wins since he joined the UFC—including his own stoppage of Gordon. The second is to throw him to the wolves and risk losing a legitimate pay-per-view attraction to a tough loss. So there's a very real chance the UFC may give him yet another unranked foe. They'll most likely move on from it as soon as possible, probably by booking Pimblett for a main card spot at UFC 286 this March in London. At a glance, that looks like the recipe for a big step up in competition, but it might not be that simple. The Brit ultimately left the cage with a unanimous-decision win, but as a quick scroll through social media will surely reveal to you, it was an extremely controversial verdict.
“Everyone's got an opinion, lad. Opinions are like a**holes: Everyone's got one,” Pimblett told MMA Junkie and other reporters post-fight at UFC 282. “I know I ...

And if Dana White truly thinks he beat Gordon, then the Liverpudlian could receive a step up in competition next time out. In 2016 he defended his Cage Warriors featherweight title against current fellow UFC roster-mate Julian Erosa. UFC 282 petered out as the night went on last night, leading to disappointing finishes in both the main and co-main event. All White offered was a critique of Gordon. “I thought that Jared Gordon’s game plan in the third round was horrible,” White said. Go out and fight the f****** third round.” As far as the scoring goes, White didn’t offer an opinion on whether or not he personally believed Gordon had done enough to perhaps win the first two rounds in his fight with Pimblett. “You think you won the first two rounds with the judges? White believes Gordon has no one to blame but himself after choosing to grind away in the clinch with Pimblett in the third round instead of forcing the action. [Dana White](https://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/2230/dana-white) famously tells UFC fighters never to leave a fight in the judges’ hands.
Ilia Topuria thinks Paddy Pimblett didn't win a single round in his fight against Jared Gordon at UFC 282.
If he crosses in my way, then we’re going to put his head like Bryce’s head tonight.” Like I said before, he’s not in my way right now, so, God bless everyone who’s not in my way. He didn’t win any rounds.
