Phoenix Suns' woes continue with 5th straight loss vs. Rockets (Arizona Sports)

The Phoenix Suns lost two key players to injuries and once again played uninspired basketball against the Houston Rockets.

The latter won’t happen but the timing for a necessary journey of rediscovery in mid-December is bad. A bad situation on Tuesday got even worse when both Ayton (left ankle) and Payne (right foot) were ruled out at halftime due to injuries sustained in the game. He took four shots in the first half and made one. The way Mikal Bridges (1-of-12) and Deandre Ayton (2-for-10) tried to find their footing resembled someone doing one of those spinning log challenges above a body of water. For the third time in five games, it was an awful first half that was the root of it. One of the greatest enigmas in sports is when you can visually see a team going through a funk.

Jalen Green one-ups 'ultimate trickster' Chris Paul in win vs. Suns (ClutchPoints)

Jalen Green, the Rockets' sophomore shooting guard, cannot be fooled any longer by Chris Paul's endless bag of tricks.

Rockets vs. Suns Takeaways: First 48, Turning The Corner, Stephen ... (Sports Illustrated)

While picking up a home victory against the Suns Tuesday night, the Houston Rockets remained hot during Stephen Silas' emotional return.

His contributions on the glass helped the Rockets outrebound the Suns 67-44. "I am glad we got the win for him [Silas]. No player deserved this honor, given how well the Rockets played on both ends — not even Daishen Nix. After defeating the Suns in a 14-point victory, the Rockets won their three-game regular-season series 2-1. The admiration people have shown toward the person his father was off the court has meant the most to him. "It's great to be back. We want our defense to be our lead instead of our offense." But in their third and final match, the Rockets never relinquished their early 14-4 lead after Jalen Green scored the first basket of the night with a triple. That is how we have to play, especially against really good teams." But Houston's early 10-point lead was also the result of their play on the defensive end. Except for a few minor blunders, Houston sustained their play for an entire 48 minutes on both ends. Here are three takeaways from the Rockets' blowout victory inside the Toyota Center.

'Ultimate trickster': Jalen Green reacts to forcing Chris Paul TO (ClutchPoints)

Rockets guard Jalen Green is quite proud after he forced a turnover from Phoenix Suns playmaker Chris Paul during their showdown on Tuesday.

With that said, Rockets fans will surely love the fact that Green is showing signs of growth not just offensively. However, that is exactly what Green did in their matchup when Paul was called for traveling late in the fourth quarter. Paul is called the Point God for a reason.
