Apart from her royal duties, the princess enjoys fitness activities and advocates for serious matters like penal reform and the large population of Thai women in prison, according to a report by BBC. With postgraduate degrees in law from two universities in the United States, Princess Bajrakitiyabha is widely adored for being the King’s most accomplished child as well as his most suitable successor. Despite being the King's eldest child, she is not directly next in line for the ascension to her father’s throne as one might assume, because the Thai crown is primarily passed down to male heirs.

The princess of Thailand collapsed while training her dogs and was taken to hospital, the palace said.

Being one of the King's three children who have formal titles, she is eligible to succeed her father under a 1924 Palace Law of Succession. The King eventually ascended the throne in December 2016, fifty days after Bhumibol’s death, and his coronation was held years later in May 2019. On completion of her doctorate, she worked briefly at the Thai Permanent Mission to the United Nations, in New York, before returning to Thailand. Bajrakitiyabha is a vocal advocate for female prisoners, of which Thailand has one of the world's highest populations. She is a trusted confidante of her father and has been in his innermost circle since he succeeded his father, King Bhumibol, in 2016. The 44-year-old was reportedly training her dogs for the Working Dog Championship 2022, organised by the Royal Thai Army, north-east of Bangkok.

Bajrakitiyabha, 44, lost consciousness on Wednesday afternoon while training her dog for a competition in the city of Nakhon Ratchasima, about 250 kilometers northeast of Bangkok. With a doctorate in law from the University of Chicago and a degree in international relations, Princess Bajrakitiyabha has served as Thailand’s ambassador to Austria between 2012 and 2014 and has held several positions representing the country at the United Nations, including at the UN Women’s agency and, more recently, at the UN Office on Drugs and Crime. After her father’s ascension to the throne in 2016, Bajrakitiyabha – considered by many to be the most suitable heir to the throne – took on a more prominent role in royal ceremonies and acts and in representing the country.
