NBA Odds: Timberwolves-Thunder prediction, odds and pick (ClutchPoints)

The Thunder host the Timberwolves for Western Conference action! It's time to continue our NBA odds series with a Timberwolves-Thunder prediction and pick.

The 24-year-old is coming off a 27-point game against the Heat where he finished just shy of a triple-double. As long as SGA is playing, then the Thunder will also have a shot. They sit at (13-15) on the year as a majority of the reason is the absence of Karl-Anthony Towns. This team, led by Shai Gilegous-Alexander, is one of the better teams in the NBA at covering the spread. The Thunder are not playing much better, however, if you pay attention to this team then you know they always find a way to cover the spread. OKC has lost four straight games after falling to the Miami Heat Wednesday night.

Minnesota Timberwolves defeat OKC Thunder despite third-quarter ... (Oklahoman.com)

Josh Giddey heaved the ball toward the basket in one final attempt. It wasn't the miracle shot he needed, but he had to do something.

GQ lauded him as “the Oklahoma City Thunder point guard with impeccable taste in leather.” He advanced through a star-studded bracket and defeated rapper A$AP Rocky in the final matchup. Isaiah Joe played a key role in the late run, igniting it with a 3-pointer, a layup and a free throw. ∙Lindy Waters III, who has a two-way contract with the Thunder, came back from the OKC Blue and played for 11 minutes and 18 seconds. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl is still unavailable because of a right ankle sprain, and Darius Bazley, who filled in for Robinson-Earl against the Heat, was out with a non-COVID illness. ∙Before the game, Mark Daigneault said Jaylin Williams was available, but he did not play. Wiggins added 14 points on 6-for-11 field-goal shooting, including his go-ahead 3-pointer to end the third quarter. The boos continued when Reid went up to grab an inbounds pass and a foul was called on Omoroyi. In February 2021, the Minnesota center set his career high of 29 points in Oklahoma City. Aleksej Pokusevski stepped in at center, making his 20th start of the season. Although Oklahoma City headed into the fourth quarter with a sudden advantage, Minnesota dismantled that lead. Daigneault said officials told him the foul clearly occurred after the timeout and it was something they couldn’t replay.

Recap: Thunder vs. Timberwolves (OKCThunder.com)

The Timberwolves led by as many as 14, but the Thunder, as the league's best third quarter team this season, burst out of the halftime locker room ...

We're on the right track clearly and we're better individually and as a team than we were a year ago and we're better than we were at the beginning of the season. The Thunder’s seven-game home stand continues with the second night of a home-home back-to-back—a Saturday night showdown with the Memphis Grizzlies. A few minutes later, Giddey attacked baseline, spun and scored at the end of the shot clock to cut the deficit back down to 108-107 with 1:36 to go. The Thunder’s sharp-shooter off the bench finished the night with six points and continues to demonstrate his readiness as a reserve for OKC. That bucket gave the Thunder a 96-95 lead in a game that featured 14 lead changes and 10 ties. He kept the foot on the gas with a career-high 23 points in the frame. On Friday, he racked up 10 of his 35 total points in the first three-and-a-half minutes of the third quarter, the 36th time this season he has had a double-digit scoring quarter. The 7-footer caught the ball in stride, elevated and navigated the ball in mid-air to bank it off the glass away from the defending arms of Minnesota’s defense. That’s remarkable efficiency for a guard like Williams, but when two of the shot attempts are no-doubt driving dunks like the ones he got in the first half, that shooting percentage can go up very quickly. That bucket was just the start of a sensational offensive night where the Thunder racked up 29 assists. That familiarity bred a game of back-and-forth runs, with an 11-4 burst by the Thunder to start the seconnd quarter, then a 15-0 Minnesota response. The latter has been a 39.5 percent shooter on catch-and-shoot 3s this year, while any opportunity for Gilgeous-Alexander to line up an open shot off the catch is welcome, let alone on the very first offensive possession of the game.
