The Bulls legend was also asked about the potential for getting his number retired in Chicago one day.

The things I want to do after basketball I feel like is going to be bigger than what I do in basketball. “Just giving your all,” said Rose, “and being appreciative of still being here and what we did in the past. If I’m good, just throw me in the game and they have the trust in me to do that.” That just shows you the respect, the love our fans have for him for what he meant to the city. He was the first person I saw take care of his body the way he took care of it. Between the MVP and unexpected longevity, Rose in many ways is a singular figure in basketball. I have an injury or something and I stop and I get back into it where I love playing the games,” said Rose talking about his training and recovery, a major part of his unlikely return to a high level of play. “But only from people asking me about it,” Rose said about the jersey. “I never want to be in a slump or be down just because I’m not playing. Rose then went out in the NBA desert like a Moses searching for relief and retreat. The way the team has been playing, I don’t want to mess up the rhythm they have right now. I’m not trying to (take) a young man’s spot on the team, but I feel like I’m healthy enough to play.

Knicks guard Derrick Rose gets real on Hall of Fame chances (ClutchPoints)

Derrick Rose is possibly the biggest what-if story in the NBA. The current New York Knicks point guard had a blistering start to his career in Chicago.

All of those are worth more than a Hall of Fame selection. In the grand scheme of things, a Hall of Fame selection does not matter. Derrick Rose is possibly the biggest what-if story in the NBA.

Happy returns to Chicago (11-17) are nothing new for Rose, who has received a warm reception from Bulls fans since his career took a nomadic turn after he was traded to the Knicks in June 2016. “Derrick is a great person, on and off the court. The warm reception bestowed to Rose has opened discussions over whether the No. This time around, however, Rose finds himself at a bit of a career crossroads: he has fallen out of Thibodeau's desired nine-man set to the point where Friday's entry was his first time on game hardwood since Dec. Thibodeau also coached Rose briefly in Minnesota on the Timberwolves before being fired during the 2018-19 season. Surely, he would love to see the guy he’s been around the most enter the esteemed Bulls shrine. If there was any head coach to give their input on Rose’s Hall of Fame case, Thibodeau would be the best choice. Rose’s 2022-23 season has been rather desolate. What Derrick did for this organization, what he did for the city… My opinion is he is deserving.

Knicks point guard Derrick Rose addresses Hall of Fame probability following a victory over the Chicago Bulls.

Nowadays, every year a highly controversial name is donned with the orange Hall of Fame jacket and welcomed with open arms. In 200-300 years, nobody is going to care about what went on," he said. This bodes well for Roses' case, as very few backcourt players were explosive, impactful, and downright box-office in their primes. The things I want to do after basketball I feel like are going to be bigger than what I do in basketball," he said. His response was telling, stating he doesn't care and it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of life. I'd be very grateful for that, but at the same time, can someone in here name a famous gladiator?

It was great to see that." "So to be able to see him get that, nothing but respect. There was a point during Thibodeau's five years in Chicago when the plan appeared to be a lock. I think there were a few players on that team that deserve consideration to be up there." Rose spent eight seasons with the Bulls, sitting out one after tearing his ACL, and playing in just 10 games in another due to a meniscus tear.
