In his fourth season, the 23-year-old guard is averaging 19 points on 43.6% shooting from the field with 4.6 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game. He ended up with 13 points in the first quarter, and while his offense slowed down after that, it set the tone for the game. Then he made a three on the first possession of the game. It was perhaps the Dubs’ best performance of the year on the road, as they led comfortably for almost the entire contest, despite playing without the injured Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins.

The lead reached 19 on Poole’s 3-pointer with 7:21 remaining in the third quarter. JaMychal Green’s 3-pointer restored the 19-point margin with 2:19 left in the third. The lead reached 14 points with 3:55 left on Poole’s layup before Toronto scored five straight points. Draymond Green made a layup with 3:42 remaining in the game to put the Warriors ahead by 22 points. Pascal Siakam scored 27 points for the Raptors, who have lost five in a row, a streak that includes three straight home losses. Klay Thompson also had 17 points for the Warriors, who are 1-3 after four games of a six-game road trip.

Thompson was 6-for-14 from the field and 3-for-9 beyond the arc. The game came to him, and rewarded him for playing the right way. At halftime, Poole already was up to 25 points, going 8-for-12 from the field and 3-for-6 on 3-pointers. When he set a new career-high at 39 points, Poole was 13-for-18 from the field, 5-for-8 from long distance and had made eight of his nine free-throw attempts. This was a needed one, and Poole showed why the Warriors handed him such a huge check in the offseason. The focus has turned to Jordan Poole with Curry out for the foreseeable future, and Poole responded with a career-night in Canada.
