The Memphis Grizzlies will look to return to their winning ways, as they travel to the Mile High City to take on another Western Conference contender, ...
The Nuggets aren’t a good halfcourt defense team, ranking 28th in points per 100 transition possessions (116.3, per Cleaning the Glass). Their powerful offense may not leave them the desired amount of open-floor opportunities, but the Grizzlies should take advantage of ended possessions to get out and run. Brooks will need to utilize his size and physicality advantages on Murray to make him uncomfortable getting to his spots, especially inside the arc. Excluding put-backs, the Nuggets are 1 of 3 teams that give up 100+ points per 100 halfcourt plays. The Denver Nuggets defense hasn’t been good. The Grizzlies’ premier stopper will need to make sure they aren’t on the receiving end of a Murray flurry this evening. The bubble was his shining example of it, putting together an offensive masterpiece of the ages. Jamal Murray is still getting back into the swing of things after missing all of last season with an ACL injury. This combination alongside Jokic gives Denver hope — and perhaps more than a puncher’s chance — of making the NBA Finals. back in the mix, and offseason acquisitions Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Bruce Brown, the Nuggets’ depth is way more bolstered than the roster trotted out last season. Once again, Nikola Jokic is leading the charge and putting up gaudy numbers for them — averaging 25.2 points on 69.2 True Shooting Percentage, 10.9 rebounds, 9 assists, and 2.2 stocks. Over the next 3 games, they will be facing the

I like the Grizzlies to respond with a win as the Nuggets are playing banged up (despite their recent success). This team has done a good job of controlling the pace of games and playing the game they want to play. Expect the high-flyer to take out his rage on the Nuggets tonight. Nikola Jokic is the main player to keep an eye on as he is probable with a right knee contusion. After losing by 18 to the Los Angeles Lakers two games ago, the Nuggets responded with a 119-115 win over the Charlotte Hornets last time out. Memphis proved they are for real last season when they finished as the 2nd seed and now look to improve off of a 50-win+ season.

[Bruce Brown](https://www.covers.com/sport/basketball/nba/players/3169/bruce-brown) has been decent in his stead, but the rest of the Nuggets' bench has not. [Michael Porter Jr.](https://www.covers.com/sport/basketball/nba/players/5613/michael-porter-jr.), who hasn’t played since Nov. Bench players [Brandon Clarke](https://www.covers.com/sport/basketball/nba/players/19156/brandon-clarke) and [Santi Aldama](https://www.covers.com/sport/basketball/nba/players/187967/santi-aldama) experience a sharper drop-off from 11.5 to 8.2 points per game, and 12.6 to 7.5 points per game, respectively, when the venue shifts away from Memphis. The Under has also cashed in four straight Grizzlies road games in which they played a team with a winning home record. [Nuggets](https://www.covers.com/sport/basketball/nba/teams/main/denver-nuggets) have played the fewest home games of any team in the NBA to this point, hosting only 12 tilts. Trend bettors should note that the Grizzlies are 8-20-1 against the spread in their last 29 road games, including an 0-6 ATS run in their last six road games against teams with winning home records. [Jaren Jackson Jr.](https://www.covers.com/sport/basketball/nba/players/5573/jaren-jackson-jr.) drops from 17.5 points per game to 16.4 on the road. That would give them hope on the road against most teams, but not against Jokic and Denver, which are second in opponent rebounds per game (39.9). Jokic was dominant against the [Grizzlies](https://www.covers.com/sport/basketball/nba/teams/main/memphis-grizzlies) last season, averaging 29.5 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 7.5 assists over four meetings. The Grizzlies jump from 111.7 points allowed per game overall to 117.7 per game on the road. [Nikola Jokic](https://www.covers.com/sport/basketball/nba/players/1850/nikola-jokic) is not surprisingly at the forefront of Denver’s superior home offense, as he’s averaged 26.9 points per game at Ball Arena this year and 23.9 points per game everywhere else. Meanwhile, the Nuggets have won four of their last five overall.
Joe Dellera breaks down Tuesday's NBA matchup between the Memphis Grizzlies and Denver Nuggets and shares his top betting pick.
The Nuggets’ have the third-worst Adjusted Defensive Rating (115.6), and this essentially cancels out their fifth-best Adjusted Offensive Rating (115.8). (heel – doubtful), Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (leg – questionable) and Jeff Green (back – questionable). If the Nuggets were fully healthy, this would be a more compelling matchup. This is a major reason why Denver has struggled against the league’s best teams that are able to capitalize on defensive mistakes. He has a +10.6 point differential and has been positive on both sides of the ball. The player that should see the biggest uptick without Murray is likely Aaron Gordon, who gets a bit more usage in his absence. With the return of “JJJ,” Jaren Jackson Jr., the Grizzlies have been able to play at a far superior level on both sides of the ball. Get up-to-the-minute [NBA odds](https://www.actionnetwork.com/nba/odds)here. Bones has improved this season, but Murray has been excellent this year while showing flashes of brilliance as he returns from injury. What has been most impressive from the Grizzlies is their defense. One of their biggest strengths with Morant at the helm is their transition offense. The Grizzlies remain without Desmond Bane (toe), but the team has played admirably in his absence and sits atop the Western Conference with a 19-10 record.
