After Maidservant Kim tells him Bu-Yeon is sad & ashamed, he pretends to be her husband & follows her to Jinyowon. He asks her to unlock Jinyowon in their bedroom to do Master Lee's mission. Master Lee asks Jang Uk to monitor Jinyowon to protect the firebird. Master Yeom & Park Jin discuss the black magic artefact Master Lee found in abandoned wells. He begs the queen to stop abusing Bu-Yeon. Jang Uk will search for Bu-Yeon when she remembers since she provides a pleasant bed for everyone in his house. Park Jin tells Jin Ho-gyeong that Bu-Yeon married Jang Uk because she could sense the Ice Stone's power in him. He believes Jang Uk's marriage to Bu-Yeon was predestined. In the last episode, we witnessed flashes of the past & how they relate to the present day in Jung Uk's life. He tells her the parasite is draining his life energy.

Episode 6 of Alchemy of Souls Season 2 begins with Jang-uk pointing out Mu-deok's history and the tree that defines so much of her past.

He rushes to her location, just as the Cheonbugwan mage, Yeom-su, beats her with the umbrella and knocks her out. We did theorize in the last chapter that Yul or So-yi would die and it seems the latter has now gone from this story, having sacrificed herself to buy Yul some precious time. Yul shows up at the den and comes face to face with Cheonbugwan. When the Prince realizes his mistake, he points out that Jang-uk has turned from before and leaves in a huff. The Prince mentions the fire bird and how dangerous all of this is, annoyed by Jang-uk’s nonchalance to the whole affair. When she informs Jang-uk of her plan, he allows her to go… He wants to advance the date of the rite and even mess about with the King’s troops too, deciding to appoint Jang-uk as a General, which would mean he needs to leave Daeho Fortress and head north. This is, of course, a throwback to episode 1 last season when Mu-deok did the same thing and wasn’t able to lift herself up. He wants to attack the Crown and Cheongbugwan, desperate for revenge. As for Yul, he speaks to So-yi in confidence, agreeing to keep her secret about Naksu and even helping her find a safe refuge to hide out. As for Jang-uk, he visits Ho-gyeong who shows him the fire bird, but things end up fiery when Jang-uk questions Ho-gyeong’s treatment of Bu-yeon and her plans for the future. Until Jang Uk arrives, that is, the monster hunter using his powers to instantly quell the threat posed to his close friend. As Bu-yeon pledges to help Jang Uk and find out who she truly is, Jin Mu requests So-i is put in charge of importing goods, furious that Yun-o allowed the well-draining earthenware to be discarded. After vividly daydreaming about killing Bu-yeon, Seo Yul clears the air with Master Heo – he wishes him good health and assures there are no hard feelings about him being sent to Seoho Fortress previously – then heads to Danhyanggok. While Seo Yul determinedly dissolves his bird whistle memento, seemingly prepared to confront Naksu, Bu-yeon tells Dang-gu she would like to travel to Danhyanggok, so she can see the “big tree” from her memories. Thus, the Crown Prince, who initially held out hope for a pleasant interaction given his adversary took care of his turtle, turns stern, reminding Jang Uk his old master said it was “better to die than do nothing,” and that the monster hunter is basically dead due to his lack of vigour, even if he possesses great power. Rejecting help from So-i, Seo Yul almost welcomes his ongoing pain, believing it gives him the chance to atone for his regrets. After Seo Yul is told the soul of Naksu is alive in the body of Bu-yeon, which means the priestess has the face of the rescued assassin, he becomes unable to see anything but his former love. Meanwhile, Jang Uk considers whether it’d be right to use his powers to “protect the world” when he couldn’t safeguard Naksu. Elsewhere, Maidservant Kim tells Jang Uk she is engaged to Park Jin and receives an emotional congratulations from the man “like a son” to her. Next, Jin Mu tries to get Jang Uk appointed as “the general of the North Fortress,” wanting to be rid of the monster hunter in Daeho so Cheonbugwan mages can run the capital. Now, there are plenty of reasons for viewers to tune in, and with Seo Yul’s ( [Hwang Min-hyun](https://readysteadycut.com/person/Hwang-Min-hyun/)) life in jeopardy, as well as Jang Uk’s ( [Lee Jae-wook](https://readysteadycut.com/person/Lee-Jae-wook/)) attitude shifting, the final two weeks of this show could even arguably be must-see. While Jang Uk’s confusion over Bu-yeon’s recollections persists, and his partner wishes to be seen for the person she is, Seo Yul is spotted.
