US approves Little Manatee River study (Tampa Bay Times)

President Joe Biden's signature on a $1.7 trillion spending bill last week guaranteed a victory for Hillsborough County environmental preservationists.

Buchanan filed the Little Manatee Wild and Scenic River Act in 2020. “Designating the Little Manatee River as ‘scenic’ will ensure that it is kept in its current, pristine condition for future generations to enjoy. Vern Buchanan, R-Sarasota, which will begin the process of potentially designating the Little Manatee River as a scenic waterway to safeguard it from future development.

Manatee County announces road closure (WWSB)

Manatee County has announced that there will be a road closure this week at 35th St W at 13th Avenue West.

The intersection closure will begin Friday Jan. 6 and last until Monday Jan. MANATEE COUNTY, Fla.

The Little Manatee River moves a step closer to receiving federal ... (WUSF News)

The recently-passed omnibus spending bill includes moving the Little Manatee towards a federal Scenic River designation.

Recreational activities, such as canoeing, kayaking, boating and fishing would still be permitted. That will take a couple of years. A push to provide federal protections for the Little Manatee River in Hillsborough County is moving closer to reality thanks to a massive spending bill passed by Congress last week.
