Episode 9 of Alchemy of Souls season 2 starts with Jang-uk questioning just who Bu-yeon actually is. "I am not Bu-yeon. My soul belongs to someone else."

After all this, Jang-uk decides to leave and head up to the North Fortress after all. Yun-o and the Queen show up to find Jin-mu fading away. As the episode closes out, Jin-mu clearly heads back to Cheonbugwan and grabs a whole bunch of hair product. With Jin-mu defeated and all the Soul Shifters gone, it seems the fight is over. With them gone, Uk shows up to see Bu-yeon, who happens to be by the tree. The sorcerer is pretty stupid and walks right up to the ice stone in the skeletal remains, taking it for himself. Finally, after all this time, Jang-uk starts to realize that Bu-yeon and Mu-deok are one and the same. After destroying the 78 other soul shifters that were with him, Uk decides to let the sorcerer go, claiming that the revenge is not for him to take. Park-jin and the others show up through a portal at Cheongbugwan and they all head into the courtyard and start to fight. Jin-mu briefs his Cheonbugwan goons and tells them all that he’s determined to see this vision of a dry land, ripe for their ritual to take place and allow the strong to prospect. In confidence, the Crown Prince admits to Bu-yeon what happened with Mu-deok and how ashamed he feels. He intends to gather that very night, introducing his secret organization to the Prince as promised and then attacking.

She meets Jin Ho-kyung and Cho-yeong outside and gives them the plaque while subtly hinting at the former that she is Naksu. Thus, he put forth the option in front of Jang Uk to either save her or stop Jin Mu’s plans. Later, Jang Uk was hidden in a secret location while Go Won transferred all the information he could get to Songrim who have been part of this whole plan. She gives her word for the same and later takes the two to the skeleton which contains a blue object glowing inside of it. Go Won’s reason to join hands with Jang Uk is that Jin Mu tried to get rid of his turtle.

- The show had been building up to the moment Jang Uk discovers Bu-yeon’s true identity. The king accuses Park Jin of going behind his and the Unanimous Assembly’s back to annihilate Jang Uk’s only rival, Jin Mu. However, she tells them about Jang Uk deliberately ignoring the existence of another soul shifter. With Songrim’s support, Jang Uk kills the members of the organization but spares Jin Mu, as it is not his revenge to take. Master Lee tells Park Jin that the Ice Stone found its way to Jang Uk, despite so many powerful people fighting for it. However, she tells him that she cannot use that to justify her actions as she was a soul shifter driven by vengeance. Yul and Park Jin meet the queen to ask her about the potion. Go Won leaves Gwido first to attend the meeting of Jin Mu’s secret organization that is planning to attack Jinyowon. He wanted her, and his desire to destroy that which he could not have led him to become Jang Uk’s enemy. While talking to Go Won about herself, Naksu, as Bu-yeon, tells him that she always wished for him to be Jang Uk’s ally. She is not Bu-yeon, and the soul inside her body belongs to someone else. Unlike the one inside Jang Uk, this stone desires to absorb human energy like a soul shifter that has run wild.
