Falling flat last time, Barangay Ginebra pushed the right buttons on second take and pounced on injury-hit Bay Area to move closer to the mountaintop.

When we get leads, they don’t panic and we have to keep earning it, keep earning it,” said Cone of the Dragons, who were led by Hayden Blankley’s 29 and Kobey Lam’s 16. The Gin Kings got off to a 20-9 start and held leads that reached as high as 18 at 76-58. This is our day-to-day, this is how we live and breathe. We didn’t know how we’re going to play them defensively. They’re really well-coached and disciplined. But today, the difference was we had a better feel of what we wanted to do in terms of the (defensive) matchups and we’re able to do that for the most part,” said Ginebra coach Tim Cone.

Stanley Pringle's clutch shooting and Justin Brownlee's 37 points put Barangay Ginebra one win away from the Commissioner's Cup title.

That piece, tonight, when the pressure was on, again, on the offensive end, trying to get a good shot and get through our stuff, missing him was noticeable from a coaching standpoint. "We didn't know that was going to happen until they announced the starting lineups. For the Dragons, Nicholson and Yang both sat out Game 5 with ankle injuries, and Goorjian put their chances of playing at 50% and 75%, respectively. He really had no reason to play the day. Three or four times up and down the floor he starts to tire already and that's why today we tried to do a little bit shorter minutes for Christian and Japeth. But he found a reason, it's the finals. Hopefully we got him out fast enough that it we didn't damage him for the rest of the series, but we won't know that really till (Monday). They don't give it to the point guard all the time, they give it to the Justin's man. "We didn't want Brownlee to beat us, so we doubled him. Game 6 on Wednesday might see both sides missing a player or two, or at the very least with a couple of players not at full strength. "The man really performs under pressure, makes the big baskets, the defensive plays, the big passes. Heading into Sunday, Pringle had averaged just 5.25 points and fewer than 20 minutes per game as the team continued to manage his playing time following his ACL injury last year.
