For as good as Harden was, the reemergence of guard Tyrese Maxey on Sunday bodes well for their chances of covering again tonight. Obviously, the team is much better when Embiid is available, but 76ers backers should have confidence in their ability to cover tonight given how well Harden has played as the primary option. They will be without leading scorer Bojan Bogdanovic and thus will need to rely on their pair of young guards, Killian Hayes and Jaden Ivey, to carry the load. Despite the team shooting just 30% from beyond the arc, the 76ers were able to handle the Pistons thanks to their strong defense. The Pistons rank a respectable eighth in rebounds per game (52.5 RPG) and are 12th in offensive rebounding (11.3 ORPG). Philly forced 23 turnovers in the win and did a great job managing the glass despite their center being out. Regardless of what they do on the glass, the Pistons are going to need to score. In Sunday’s loss to the 76ers, Stewert scored 20 points and pulled down a season-high 13 rebounds. The 76ers rank 29th in rebounding (47.6 RPG) and will be without starting center Joel Embiid. For Detroit to dominate the glass they are going to need a big game from center Isaiah Stewart. The Pistons covered 48% of their games while 60% went over the projected point total. The 76ers covered 58% of their games while 59% went over.
An undermanned Pistons squad travels to Philly for second consecutive clash.
In his two prior meetings with the 76ers this season, Hayes has put up an average of 19 points and 5 assists. Without their leading scorer (Bogdanovic) and rebounder (Duren), Detroit will need to push the tempo by creating chaos on defense and scoring in transition. Especially in a game like tonight, where the odds are heavily stacked against Detroit. In an injury-ravaged season most level-headed fans can deal with high-turnover games from one of the NBA’s youngest rosters. In the aftermath of their double-digit loss to the 76ers, starting center Isaiah Stewart said, “We took our foot off the pedal. Detroit will need to put forth a season-best effort if they are to challenge the hometown 76ers tonight.

The Detroit Pistons will be even more shorthanded tonight on the road against the Philadelphia 76ers and are big time underdogs.
The Detroit Pistons will hit the road tonight to take on the 76ers for the second game in a row. Detroit is a 10 point underdog tonight according to Fanduel, but I expect that will balloon up to 12 points or even higher by game time depending on who sits for Philly. That could all be reversed tonight, so it’s hard to see this being anything but a blowout unless Philly sits a bunch of guys to rest them or just doesn’t show up. He’ll need to. Who knows, maybe Killian Hayes will have his first 40-point game. This game has the chance to be ugly, as the 76ers eviscerated Detroit in the last game without Joel Embiid in the lineup and he could be returning to take on a

Philly was a bit sloppy on offense (seven turnovers from six different players in the first quarter) but just had too much talent for the young Pistons to handle. He kept the aggression going, though, and hit a pair of triples in the third quarter but couldn’t even muster up much against the Sixers’ backups. Diallo gave the Sixers a fraction of trouble with his highly efficient scoring. Detroit lead 3-2 after a minute of game time and that was it for their lead. He didn’t miss a shot, which included two looks from deep, and once again had a solid game against one of his former teams. He proved to be really hard to contain in the third quarter, where he scored with several old-fashioned three-point plays and helped power an extra dominant quarter for Philly. He locked in his 72nd career triple-double with just under seven minutes remaining in the third quarter. Tucker back in the starting lineup for a home matchup following a blowout win on the road, it’s no wonder that this contest resulted in a blowout win for the Sixers.

Kobe Bryant was the man in the NBA during the mid-2000s, and when he took Wade on as a defensive assignment, he knew this was it. And for Kobe Bryant, who would go on to inspire him, to be the man who made him realize just who he was is as poetic as it can get.
