In fact, they welcome this development because they, too, would like the police organization to be rid of misfits and scalawags,” he added. In a previous TV interview, Abalos said that the number of police officials who had tendered their courtesy resignation was a welcome development and an assurance that the police force remained united. Critics earlier opposed the move, saying it could lead to the demoralization of the police force. This would be in time for Azurin’s retirement on April 24 and the naming of a new PNP chief. According to Fajardo, they were hoping that the rest would follow suit by the end of the month. The PNP also did not confirm if any of them had already tendered their courtesy resignation.

The state’s messy redistricting process also contributed to Santos’ ability to evade serious scrutiny. In 2020, under the old maps, Democratic Rep. Santos flipped the seat in November. D’Esposito was joined later Wednesday in calling for Santos’ resignation by four more in the House GOP: New York Reps. He refused to answer additional questions as he went into an elevator. I’m actually not so worried for the police colonels and generals who are the targets of this current operation. The DILG says it is cleaning the highest ranks of the PNP of misfits and scalawags. Now it is too lazy to properly investigate and charge police officials suspected of being involved with drugs so they just asked everyone to submit courtesy resignations. It looks like the illegal drug bogeyman has been revived once again, but this time the sights have been set on the higher value targets instead of cannon fodder.
