A new Black Panther: Wakanda Forever deleted scene has been released ahead of its digital release and streaming debut on Disney+.

Ryan Coogler directed Black Panther: Wakanda Forever from a screenplay he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole. “In the film, Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye, and the Dora Milaje fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death,” reads the synopsis. The scene, which is called “Daughter of the Border,” shows Danai Gurira’s Okoye as she converses with her uncle played by Danny Sapani.

As a tribute to the late actor, the studio and the filmmakers decided not to recast his character and make the necessary changes in the script to continue his legacy.

Black Panther 2 Deleted Scene Sees Okoye Return to Wakanda's ... (CBR)

A deleted scene from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever shows Danai Gurira's Okoye being tempted to become Queen of Wakanda by the Border Tribe.

[Wakanda-focused Disney+ series](https://www.cbr.com/black-panther-danai-gurira-okoye-disney-plus-spinoff/), and Gurira reportedly signed a deal to star as Okoye. However, Wakanda Forever's Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) is set to star in an Ironheart Disney+ series, which is set to premiere in late 2023. Amid the chaos of Wakanda's war against the undersea Talokan, Shuri eventually becomes Black Panther without performing the Warrior Falls ceremony and leaves Wakanda without challenging for the throne at the end. The often blue-clad Border Tribe has a much smaller role in Wakanda Forever than they did in the first film, where Okoye's husband W'Kabi (Daniel Kaluuya) and his Border Tribe soldiers When Okoye protests and asks where this would leave Shuri, her uncle dismisses Shuri as a "grieving woman." Okoye laughs at first, but her uncle insists that she has popular support among the people, and that "Wakanda would be proud to stand behind you."

Regardless, we're sure Okoye will return to the MCU sooner rather than later, while there have been rumours lately that we'll next see Shuri in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Taken from the end of the movie, we get an extended look at Shuri's arrival in Haiti, only this time, she's met there by Okoye. It is, however, worth noting that we've heard nothing about that show for quite some time now.
