Resident Evil 4 Remake will make changes to the Ashley Graham escort missions which frustrated players of the original game.

As revealed in a late 2022 game preview, changes are also coming to the game’s weapons. ‘For anyone who couldn’t get on board with the direction the Resident Evil series ended up taking, the remake of RE4 seems to be trying to win you over, while also staying faithful to a terrifying tone and approach … While you will still need to escort Ashley as in the original story, when she takes too much damage from roaming enemies in the area, she’ll be ‘downed’ rather than killed.

Instead of having a health bar, Ashley will get "downed" if hit too much, leaving you to pick her back up. That should make things less tedious, but you can also ask her to keep a distance while you clear rooms. QTEs can be seen in a few different places throughout Resident Evil 4. You have to frantically tap a button to sprint away from danger, press the left and right bumpers to crouch just in time to dodge attacks, and usually square or X to climb up ledges.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Getting Rid of QTEs, Adding Side Quests (Game Rant)

It looks as though the remake of Resident Evil 4 will be getting rid of the original's quick time events while also adding in some side quests.

With the 2005 release changing the face of survival horror and switching up the formula that its predecessors laid before it, it will be interesting to see how a modern take on this influential survival game will go down. For those who aren't aware, a QTE is a moment during a game when the player is prompted onscreen to quickly press a corresponding controller button. [Resident Evil 4](https://gamerant.com/tag/resident-evil-4/) will not feature QTEs, with Capcom considering these to be rather "antiquated." Failure to press the button quickly enough often results in the player failing or their character dying. Instead, these sections are getting switched up to better suit the current gaming zeitgeist, making them much more suitable for a horror game released for this generation. Of course, the original still had its faults, and it looks as though one of its less popular aspects will not be making an appearance this time round.

Resident Evil 4 Remake's Rain Is Being Compared To GTA Trilogy ... (TheGamer)

Sorry to rain on your parade, Leon. Resident Evil 4 remake on the left showing Leon stabbing someone in the rain and GTA.

There's still a heavy downfall, but it's subtle and realistic, not obscuring any of the map's details. You can see this in the tweet embedded above, though it's unclear why it varies so much. The rain will no doubt add to that sense of hostility, but the problem lies in how it looks. Like the infamous GTA Definitive Edition, Resident Evil 4's remake rain is being critiqued for how out of place it looks. These are similar complaints to what the GTA Definitive Edition received, which was "It's comically distracting but idk I kinda like it making it look like it's HELLA heavy downpour," Runebee tweeted in response.

It is so cool though, and makes up for the absence of bombastic QTEs immediately. [PS2](https://www.thegamer.com/tag/ps2/), the idea of actually interacting with a cutscene, a part of games we’d come to view as passive, was groundbreaking. Having played the opening of Resi 4 Remake, I know their eradication is for the best. I watched my older siblings play a lot of games before I did, and Resident Evil 4 was one of the best. Either way, I remember walking into my brother’s bedroom one evening and watching one of the first sequences with Jack Krauser unfold. Deflecting a chainsaw wielding farmhand with a sick ass combat knife loses some of its impact when the mechanic is operated with a brief waggle of the thumbstick, and rebuilt cutscenes probably can’t flirt with new direction much if the scripted button presses remain.

Can Resident Evil 4 Remake fix the franchise's biggest problem? (VG247)

It's time the ride of Leon Kennedy's life didn't end with a sloppy finish – but can Resident Evil 4 Remake deliver?

When it was released, Resident Evil 4 remodeled the franchise and influenced a generation of action games, for better and worse. An unsung hero is the wildly creative and varied Resident Evil 7 DLC, which ranges from escape room puzzles, a beat ‘em up as Jack’s brother, to a nightmare round of Blackjack. Of course, the colossal turd at the heart of this is progression. This gulf between the horror highs and action lows has never been clearer than in the latest installments, Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village. It’s bombastic and silly, but changes the pace at a time when the regular combat grows tiresome. The final act syndrome has been a problem in Resident Evil for decades. Deploy the Regenerators during a sequence as Ashley, where you’re stripped of your upgraded arsenal. The consensus deems the island as where the horror dies, but action was always Resident Evil 4’s primary gear. Perhaps, but the island is when Resident Evil 4 outstays its welcome. If the developer decided to cut swathes from the original, ala Resident Evil 3 Remake, the island would be nudged to the sacrificial altar to the despair of no-one aside from a molded entity on Reddit. At this point, it’s boring to say Resident Evil 4 is one of the greatest games ever made. But the island.

A new video interview for the Resident Evil 4 remake shows a bunch of new gameplay, as well as an entirely new enemy.

Enemies can also still carry her away, which also can result in a game over, but players can attack or execute the assailant to get her back. Capcom also tweaked her personality with the aim to make her more likable, saying she is more serious and will react more realistically to situations. Players can click in the right stick to tell her stay close or keep distance, but it’s no longer possible to tell her to hide in a dumpster or bin like the original. It shows that players can board up windows like they could in the Resident Evil 2 remake, in addition to blasting, kicking, and stabbing the hordes pouring in. Nakaoka explained that it wasn’t the team’s intent to make a new character and was added much later in development. And while Nakaoka said the studio didn’t intend on making a new enemy,

Resident Evil 4 Remake's Best & Worst Gameplay Changes (Screen Rant)

Resident Evil 4 Remake will make many changes to the original gameplay. Many are much needed updates, but some others seem out of place.

[Resident Evil 4 Remake will change the gameplay](https://screenrant.com/resident-evil-4-remake-gameplay-changes/). It appears that Resident Evil 4 Remake will add a knife durability feature, which is more in line with how melee works in the remakes of RE2 and 3. It appears that these side quests will be spread out around Valdelobos in the form of blue posters. While it certainly sounds like these quests will be varied, they may also detract from the suspense of the main story. Restoring bejeweled artifacts for sale, collecting hidden blue medallions, unlocking secret cutscenes - none of these are necessary to the plot or overall progression through the world of Resident Evil 4, but they can be entertaining diversions from the main story. In Resident Evil 4, players could use the game's only melee weapon, the combat knife, indefinitely. Still, the Resident Evil 4 remake will make major changes to Ashley. [IGN](https://www.ign.com/articles/resident-evil-4-remake-interview-capcom) that the remake would have "barely any" of these quick-time events. If any feature needed fixing going into Resident Evil 4 Remake, it's this one. She may even prove indispensable in passing certain obstacles, like traversing crawlspaces in order to unlock doors from the other side. In the original release, Ashley merely trails Leon, waiting in place or following him at the player's direction. Both critically acclaimed and a bestseller, Resident Evil 4 received high praise for its tense story and atmospheric gameplay.

Ashley will now be more serious and believable, and will interact with Leon in a way that exudes more humanity than the game-like manner of the original. [PlayStation 5](https://www.dualshockers.com/tag/ps5/), [PlayStation 4](https://www.dualshockers.com/tag/ps4), [Xbox Series X Ashley will also be more dominant gameplay-wise, as she will now be able to climb ladders and crawl through spaces, making the obstacles harder and more focused on her tag-team cooperation with Leon, not just being rescued by him. The goal was to convey the feeling of protecting someone to the players, so having Ashley come and go in the original game didn't really establish that. The rescue takes place in the first quarter of the story, and the rest of the campaign focuses on the duo's escape from the rural Spanish village where Ashley was being held. "Having her hide while you went and fought in the original, that was fun in some ways," Ampo elaborated on the new change.
