Memphis Grizzlies vs. Chicago Bulls Game Preview (Grizzly Bear Blues)

MEMPHIS: Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, Dillon Brooks, Santi Aldama, Jaren Jackson Jr. CHICAGO: Ayo Dosunmu, DeMar Derozan, Zach Lavine, Nikola Vucevic, Patrick ...

As many have pointed out for the Grizzlies, the struggles in the fourth quarter have stood out as a big reason for the recent string of losses. That was a big reason as to why the Raptors were able to come back on Sunday. The other focus of the Grizzlies is ensuring they do not get behind in terms of possessions. This is where the Grizzlies will win or lose tonight’s game, because if Memphis can match the productivity of the Bulls inside the arc, Bane and others can win the game with success from three. And while the Grizzlies and Bulls may be in different positions in terms of their outlooks for the rest of the season, both can benefit from as many wins as possible. Having Morant and Brooks back certainly helps, and Santi Aladama and Desmond Bane have been in excellent in the first half over the past few games. Next on the schedule is the Chicago Bulls, who much like the Raptors on Sunday, are a team who have some big decisions to make on and off the court over the next few days. Though the Bulls are more accurate from three, the Grizzlies make shooting beyond the arc a bigger area of focus. Here are a few ways the Grizzlies can earn a needed win: Memphis must contest has many looks as possible, and make sure that Demar Derozan nor anyone else starts to take over for a significant stretch. On the bright side for Chicago, the Bulls are 6-3 over their past nine games, and finally are running into some good injury luck. No, seriously, they rank among the bottom five in the NBA in points, fg%, and 3P% in first and fourth quarters over the past three weeks.

NBA Odds: Bulls-Grizzlies prediction, pick, how to watch (ClutchPoints)

The Chicago Bulls (26-27) visit the Memphis Grizzlies (32-21) on Tuesday night. Action tips off at 8:10 p.m. ET. Below we continue our NBA odds series with ...

They are especially potent on the offensive glass where they rank second in the league in offensive rebound rate. Like Morant, Bane has continued to play well in spite of the team’s losses. Despite their poor play of late, the Grizzlies continue to have one of the most balanced teams in the NBA. The Bulls should keep things tight tonight even if they don’t come away with a W. His outside shooting could play a huge factor in tonight’s outcome given the talent of opposing center Jaren Jackson Jr. Considering the Grizzlies allow the sixth-most three per game, LaVine could be a huge factor tonight thanks to his outside shooting. The Bulls covered 55% of their games while 55% went under the projected point total. Memphis finds itself in the midst of its worst stretch of the season, yet they remain comfortably in second place in the West. Additionally, Chicago does a good job taking care of the ball – something that could be key tonight considering Memphis forces turnovers at an above-average rate. Although he is coming off a quiet 19-point outing against the Spurs, DeRozan continues to be incredibly consistent on a night-to-night basis. The Grizzlies covered 47% of their games while 55% went under. Chicago has fought their way back into playoff contention and is playing some of their best basketball of the season heading into tonight’s game.

4th quarter meltdown vs. Grizzlies proves the Bulls are poorly ... (Pippen Ain't Easy)

The Chicago Bulls cannot justify trotting out this flawed roster if they want to genuinely compete for a championship this season.

It’s not fair to DeRozan to expect him to hard carry this team to (and through) the playoffs when he still has much to offer a legitimate contender. Counting on DeRozan to continue pulling this team out of mediocrity is not a winning strategy. By all accounts, this should have been a statement win for the Bulls. Without DeMar there to lead this team, we saw how quickly the Bulls crumble in the clutch. Factoring out LaVine’s production, the Bulls shot 35% from the field as a team, so it’s not like he was letting the hot hand take over last night. Unfortunately, they’d completely fall apart in the closing moments, allowing Memphis to wrap the game up on a 22-7 run despite the score being tied with only 7 minutes remaining on the clock.
