Prolonged fasting: Is it good for weight loss? (Longevity.Technology)

One of them is prolonged fasting which is the most extreme calorie-restriction diet. The idea is to fast for two to five days, but some dieters can take it up ...

Normally, people who do prolonged fasting feel more alert and energetic, especially after 18 to 24 hours of fasting. Although prolonged fasting may not physically help lower hunger hormones, it is a good way to help build a strong mental relationship with your eating habits. The best way to deal with this is to keep yourself away from scrumptious foods while on a prolonged fast. You have to endure your urge to eat, which can be extremely difficult for people with bad eating habits. Lowered insulin levels can signal your liver to begin fat burning and then it produces ketones. Having low blood glucose is like telling your body that it is a good time to grow molecules in the cells, bypass cellular recycling and do protein cleanup processes. As your insulin levels lower during prolonged fasting and so as your glucose levels. Your insulin levels may drop to nearly as low as they can reach during 50 hours and more of prolonged fasting; however, it can actually go low quickly, even within just 24 hours. With prolonged fasting, you need to condition your body to adapt to fat burning and become the source of energy. One of the many things that may happen to your body when you do prolonged fasting is that your insulin and glucose drop. There are a bunch of fasting types that you can try to help you reduce your weight. When doing prolonged fasting for five days, you may lose an average of 5.5 pounds or over three per cent of your body weight.

Health benefits of fasting - Now Habersham (Now Habersham)

Intermittent fasting has been popularized as a good way to lose weight. Many Christians also observe it during Lent. Let's explore the health benefits.

Fasting can be another tool in our toolbox, so to speak, to enhance our physical and spiritual well-being. Eating enough protein and keeping a balanced diet when not fasting can also minimize irritability and fatigue. Recently, Healthline reported that several studies have found fasting may improve blood sugar control, especially useful for diabetics and those at risk of developing the disease, by reducing insulin resistance. The study linked longevity to changes in the mitochondrial networks, which are structures within our cells responsible for producing energy. It has gained much popularity in recent years as an effective way of losing weight. One of the more recent is intermittent fasting.

If our minds must be redirected over and over from the distractions of this world back to the reality of heaven, our bodies can be in a continual state of prayer during a fast. Paul’s admonition to “pray always.” For those of us in the world whose vocations call us to apply our minds to many problems throughout the course of the day, it is a struggle to answer the exhortation to constant prayer. “It is less dangerous to be convicted of abandoning your weapons in battle than to be seen abandoning the great weapon of fasting.” Far from an outdated practice modern man no longer needs and is unable to accomplish, fasting is particularly suited to fit us for the battles of our times, where the clarion call of the world is always “MORE!” It is easier to simply not eat (and you have to admit, defining fasting as “not eating” is a little less awkward). Basil demonstrates the primacy of fasting as the Christian practice that accustoms all souls to battle with the forces of evil. Basil repeatedly connects fasting to good physical health, both as a blessing from God and a normal consequence of self-discipline, noting that doctors advise the sick man to eat only the necessities – just as soldiers, he reiterates, take only what is necessary as they journey toward war. Beginning with the original sin, which he notes was actuated as a failure to fast, he takes his listener on a tour of the Old Testament, demonstrating time and again that fasting wrought holiness while failure to fast led to sin. Perhaps this is what has given rise to the notion that the Lenten Fast need not be about food: there are a plethora of things we should be “giving up.” It’s common for friends to let you know they’re not implementing any kind of change in the way they’re eating during Lent this year because instead they’re going to “fast” from Facebook or some other activity. Many of the monks affected acknowledged that the relaxation of true daily fasting was a concession, and they desired to make up for this loss. is the ready availability of highly palatable and highly processed foods that constitute the daily intake of most Americans. The conclusion in these stricken monasteries was that perhaps then-modern man had a constitution that was just not as robust as that of the earliest monks.

According to experts, high levels of monocytes have been associated with inflammation, infection, and other health issues. That said, autophagy isn’t the only way that fasting can help skin health. High blood sugar levels can cause dry skin and even collagen damage. In recent years, studies have highlighted the benefits of fasting and how it can improve one’s health. This process comes with a ton of benefits, which include improved brain health and, you guessed, healthier skin.

Lent is a time of fasting, when Christians enter into the desert with Christ to put him first and to fight against all the attachments and temptations that keep us from him. It is time to say, "I will not be full, I will not be satisfied with normal food, because I seek the bread of heaven." Nothing pulls us out of an inward focus more than love, which is not a feeling but a choice to put the good of the other first. Jesus went out into the wilderness to be with his Father, to put him first, to show there was nothing more important. "Woe to you that are full now." We now seek to shape our identity through the fulfillment of our desires, particularly sexual ones, and insist that others affirm our choices to validate our sense of worth. With a full stomach, it is hard to remember that we do not live on bread alone. America has descended into a new period of bread and circuses, forgetting the deeper needs of our transcendent nature. At the end of it, as you might suspect, he was hungry (Luke 4:2).

Yet why is fasting so important in the life of the Church? Instead, they tried to take this knowledge of good and evil for themselves and ate the fruit, disobeying God and bringing Original Sin, death, and illness upon mankind. “And that’s where the Church says ‘stop right here, this fundamental level, and gain control there.’ It’s like the first step in the spiritual life.”

Text: “….. If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove… this kind goeth ...

It is an axiom of our faith that a deviation from God’s set order or demand, which is a prelude to the fulfilment of His pledge, weakens the potency of His promises, because He is a God of order and the Lord of set patterns. To eat the good of the land for instance, is not free; it is grounded on firstly your willingness and then your obedience to His command – any action to the contrary is an invitation to destruction. As this 2023 Lenten season enters Day 2 today, please ask yourself if you are merely observing a religious ceremony or you are on a personal hunger strike or you don’t want to eat in other to cut down on your excess weight or you are fasting indeed? For your fasting to have an effect on any mountain, and not serve as a religious affair or merely a hunger-strike; for it not be for weight reduction or serve as a means of detoxification, it is imperative to first accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, you must ensure that you don’t have sin in your life and you must have also genuinely forgiven all that have erred against you (Is. From the passage where we picked our text, a man brought a report to Jesus Christ concerning his son who was a lunatic and would usually fall into fire and water. Not only that, lots of congregation’s spiritual ego is massaged and lifted to high heavens when long days of fasting are declared either for a specific program, towards the approaching elections, to climax a year or at the start of a new year among many others. If you want to enjoy marriage as an example, submission to your husband in everything and to love your wife with all you are endowed with are non-negotiable (Ephesians 5:22-28). The pervasive lethargy across the length and breadth of the body of Christ to critically study (and not only read) the Holy Scriptures has led to a gradual erosion of truth of His word and permanent tenancy with ignorance and falsehood. It therefore behoves anyone who desires to enjoy the full value of God’s promises to follow very strictly His commandments because His promises are not free – they are predicated on fulfilment of certain terms and obligations. And, if you want to live long and be prosperous as a child, you must honour your parents (Ephesians 6:2-3) – any deviation from those set patterns is an invitation to crisis! If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove… Paul told Timothy that, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth“ (2 Timothy 2:15).
