Acquiring Carmelo Anthony 12 years ago today was huge for the Knicks, but how did it affect the fans and team long-term?

It may be a frustrating ordeal for fans to watch given the “quick fix Knicks” they’ve gotten used to in the prior decade, but it’s time to get readjusted and watch a solid front office thrive and get this team where it hasn’t been in a long time. In the short term, it gave the Knicks hope and the hometown star the team desperately needed at the time. Having a solid core that is slowly making progress in the playoffs just to blow it up and make a trade for a big-name player could have soured the rest of the decade for the Knicks, given what happened in the last one. Whether or not you think that the team is one piece away from contending for a title, Rose is going to wait until the right guy is on the table for the right price to strike a deal. A sad move at the time, the idea was to orient this team around Porzingis and build around the youth. Following a few years of finding their footing, the 2012-2013 season was an unforgettable one for the city of New York as the Knicks finished the season with the second-best record in the Eastern Conference.

He played for Team USA’s Men’s Basketball Senior Team since 2004, winning three Olympic gold medals (2016 in Rio de Janeiro, 2012 in London, and 2008 in Beijing), one FIBA Americas championship (2007), and a bronze medal during the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Consequently, the future Hall of Famer now has plenty of spare time in his hands to fulfill his responsibilities as a global ambassador for FIBA. NBA star Carmelo Anthony is set to be named as the latest global ambassador of the FIBA World Cup.

Anthony will be named as the third global ambassador of the 2023 FIBA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia. Anthony is scheduled to be introduced by the Samahang Baskebol ng Pilipinas on Friday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum. The National Parks Development Committee’s Facebook page posted photos of Anthony at the Rizal Monument, while Barbara’s also shared snaps of the former LA Lakers player along with members of his entourage.

A case to bring back Melo (Posting and Toasting)

Carmelo Anthony would do more than fill a roster spot.

What a touching and poetic tribute it would be for Melo to retire a Knick. As a member of the Top 75 Players of All-Time, Melo still has veteran savvy and would bring leadership to a Knicks team on track to return to the playoffs. He could be the mentor Randle needs and one he would respect. But this past summer, he was a free agent and has yet to be picked up by a team. Since leaving the Knicks, he bounced around with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets, two then-contenders who needed Melo to adapt to a supporting role, something he was averse to doing after being “the Man” for his entire career. That was over a decade ago, and since Melo’s time with the Knicks, the franchise fell into despair as soon as he left.
