The Pelicans are still hurting. The Pelicans are 11th in field goal shooting percentage, 18th in 3-point shooting percentage, and 17th in free-throw shooting percentage. The Pelicans are still without Williamson. Likewise, the Knicks must stop Ingram and McCollum from taking over. The Knicks continue to be amazing on the boards, ranking fourth in rebounds. But the Knicks must improve on the defensive end, ranking 24th in blocked shots. The Knicks won the battle of the boards 43-34. Also, the Pelicans are 5-5 over their last 10 games at Madison Square Garden. But the Knicks powered back and completed the comeback to stun the Wizards. Checking the injury report, Iโm bummed that Dyson Daniels is questionable for tonightโs engagement (ankle). I was hoping for another look at the kid Iโd valued so highly before the draft. Will Julius Randle have anything left in the tank after tying his career-high, 46 points last night against the Wiz?

[Jalen Brunson](https://www.covers.com/sport/basketball/nba/players/4184/jalen-brunson) and [Julius Randle](https://www.covers.com/sport/basketball/nba/teams/main/new-york-knicks/roster) have earned a ton of respect and the always-coveted "green light" from the coaching staff. New York ranks 28th in pace and will likely lure the Pelicans into playing more half-court offense, which favors the Under tonight. [Brandon Ingram](https://www.covers.com/sport/basketball/nba/players/5536/brandon-ingram) assignment, and that's not one that he matches up well against. The Over/Under for tonight's matchup is available between 223.5 and 224 across most popular sportsbooks. It may be hard to stomach for some Knicks fans, but [RJ Barrett](https://www.covers.com/sport/basketball/nba/players/126726/rj-barrett) appears to be slowly but surely heading in that direction. [Knicks](https://www.covers.com/sport/basketball/nba/teams/main/new-york-knicks) roster, yet he can't even sniff the rotation. Without Williamson, the Pelicans shouldn't be able to keep up with the Knicks. With Williamson not available, Randle is expected to take advantage of his matchup with whoever the Pelicans choose to match him up against, as Ingram and The Knicks could try throwing Grimes and Hart at him, but the significant height difference could make it relatively easy for Ingram to shoot over them. Barrett will get the first chance at guarding Ingram, but his spotty defense this season doesn't leave many with confidence that he can contain the talented forward. He's always been more of a two-guard, and that's very evident when he faces teams that have small forwards with real size. This season, there have already been several casualties of the stern coach's temper and decision to cut minutes and players out of the rotation.
