Commenting on the matter, Lii Wen(李問), director of the governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Lienchiang County Chapter, said Thursday that a syndicate might be behind the rampant smuggling of Australian lobsters to China via Taiwan's outlying Lienchiang county for illegal profit. Between September and November 2022, Taiwan's Coast Guard seized a total of 58,706 kilograms of undeclared Australian lobsters in 33 shipments from Matsu to China and referred the cases to Keelung Customs Office. Researchers have identified five new species of squat lobsters, one of which is pink and fuzzy.

“Now more than ever there is a need to explore and study deep-sea species diversity and to understand these unique ecosystems before human activity has an irreversible impact.” They collected squat lobsters for museum specimens from the Galapagos, Costa Rica and California over the course of a decade, according to the study published in January. It’s about identifying species that need to be protected. It’s the most “Deep-sea diversity is really, really unknown,” study author Paula Rodríguez-Flores told The Harvard Gazette on March 14. It’s pink and has a layer of fuzz coating its hard shell.
