Lance Reddick, actor in "The Wire" and "John Wick" movies, dies at ... (CBS News)

The actor's death was confirmed to CBS News by two of his representatives.

Reddick had a recurring role as Jeffrey Tetazoo, director of the Central Intelligence Agency, on CBS' "Intelligence." Reddick attended the prestigious Eastman School of Music, where he studied classical composition, and he played piano. He earned a SAG Award nomination in 2021 as part of the ensemble for Regina King's film "One Night in Miami." "When the opportunity for 'Oz' came up, I jumped. Cedric Daniels on "The Wire," where his character was agonizingly trapped in the messy politics of the police department in Baltimore, which was Reddick's hometown. Reddick was a Yale University drama school graduate who enjoyed some success after school by landing guest or recurring roles on "CSI: Miami" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."

He did not attend the red carpet premiere of the film earlier this week. Reddick's death comes as a shock to movie fans, as he was in the middle of a press tour for John Wick: Chapter 4, where he reprised his role as Charon. He was found dead at his home in Los Angeles Friday morning, according to his rep Mia Hansen.

The actor had been recently doing interviews for his role in John Wick: Chapter 4, released next week.

Lance Reddick, who graced TV screens as Cedric Daniels in 'The Wire,' has died of natural causes, a representative told The Times.

Reddick also starred in the Amazon series “Bosch” as Irvin Irving. That same year, Reddick debuted as Charon in “John Wick,” the beginning of the action franchise starring Keanu Reeves. Reddick starred as Cedric Daniels until the series came to a close in 2008. He landed his first acting role in the TV series “New York Undercover” in 1996, according to IMDb. In 2000, he appeared as prisoner Desmond Mobay, who was actually a tortured undercover police officer, in “Oz,” and the TV work kept coming. Cedric Daniels in HBO’s “The Wire.”
