Corey Parson previews how to bet Nets vs. Heat, including updated odds, picks & predictions for Saturday's game.
As favorites, the Miami Heat are 19-33-3 ATS (second-worst in the NBA) and as home favorites they are 11-22-2 ATS (worst in the NBA). But the key players on both sides are expected to play. Yes, the Heat are playing well now, but they have the fewest wins for any division leading team in the league, and it’s not even close. To their credit they have responded well recently mainly due to the play of Jimmy Butler. Brooklyn’s current losing streak features a pair of losses to the Cavaliers, as well as losses vs. Just like the Nets, the Heat also have their backs to the wall. Only the Kings, Celtics, Sixers and Knicks have more ATS wins in that period. Brooklyn is currently seventh in the East and facing the prospect of hosting the No. 1, only the Pistons, Spurs and Rockets have fewer wins in that span. The [Heat](https://www.actionnetwork.com/nba/odds/miami-heat) are going for their fifth win in their past six games. This is an important game for both teams who are separated by just a half game in the Eastern Conference standings. (At one point the Nets were as high as the second second in the east, that must seem like years ago to Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn.)

That’s seen the Over cash in four straight Heat home games, as well as in five of their last seven overall. That’s contributed to the Under going 6-2 in their last eight games against teams with winning records. The personnel does suggest that this will be something of a slugfest, with Butler and They’ve had a negative 4.8-point differential for the past two weeks, and they’ve been underperforming against the spread by an average of 2.1 points per game in that same span per Cleaning the Glass. On top of that, they’re 5-0 ATS when playing on a single day of rest, as well as 4-0 ATS against winning teams. The Nets are 1-5 in their last five games, and their chances of avoiding the play-in tournament are looking slimmer by the day. He noted that when the intensity ramps up, whether in a game or in a particular part of the season, that’s when Jimmy is not only at his best, he’s among the greatest to ever do it. With the remaining games in the NBA regular season down to single digits, the race for the playoffs in the Eastern Conference hangs on a razor's edge. Brooklyn is also still learning how to play together and momentary hesitations that come from that frequently translate to trips to the foul line. I can’t think of a more apt description of Butler, who truly seems to elevate his game in the biggest moments unlike almost anyone in the modern NBA. In their matchup back in February Butler was able to catch his wind on every Nets’ offensive possession when defending one of Dorian Finney-Smith or It’s beginning to feel a lot like the 2020-21 season, where although he failed to make the All-Star team, it was impossible to deny him All-NBA honors.

Something I’ve noticed with the Nets is when they drive to the basket and are at the rim, they often try to make the extra pass instead of trying to finish in traffic. If Butler is respectable from out there, it opens up the rest of the floor for him and forces defenders to respect him from deep. The Miami Heat are firmly in the middle of the Eastern Conference playoff picture and have been putting an exclamation point on their final few games of the season. Still, if this Miami team can play with their usual defensive pressure, they should be able to shut down the Nets in more ways than not. They had a chance to break their losing streak against the Cavs, but saw a dagger three-pointer go in with 0.7 seconds left in the game to send them home with a loss. The Miami Heat are sixth in the Eastern Conference and will be highly motivated to win this game after losing their first two meetings with the Nets. The return of Ben Simmons continues to be delayed (back) as the Nets try to search for answers and not slip out of playoff contention. This win would be huge for them as they could jump the Heat in the standings.
After everything the Brooklyn Nets franchise has been through, they still find themselves in the middle of the playoff hunt as they are the current seventh.

Adebayo has served in that same role for the Heat, also playing at an above average rate on both ends of the court. Caleb Martin especially, recently filling into the role of a power forward who relentlessly attacks the boards to give lone big man Bam Adebayo help on the glass. Currently sitting as a +6 underdog, my prediction is that the Nets keep it close in an effort to regain their lead in the conference standings to avoid the play-in tournament.
