Warning out on Holy Week cyber hackers (Philstar.com)

If Filipinos love long weekends, cyber criminals do, too, according to multinational cybersecurity giant Kaspersky.

In Greek, the name CYRI means powerful, perfectionist and capable. “On the part of the PNP, expect our maximum visibility in areas of convergence to remain until the end of the Holy Week and for the duration of the summer season,” Fajardo said. • Use a credit card as most have built-in protections against fraud. “I also encourage the younger generation to study and experience the passion of the Christ, especially at this time, when our youth are going through so many trials,” she said in a statement. “Let’s not post our plane tickets, our bus tickets, and we keep doing this to remind the public against criminals who monitor on cyberscape,” Fajardo said in Filipino at the Laging Handa briefing. “Unfortunately, cyber criminals get excited about holidays, too. “People can soon choose the language that they understand and they can relate with and feel more confident in answering questions,” Ramos said. The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) is launching its digital assistant – the CYRI chatbot – to ensure the continued gathering of cybercrime complaints round-the-clock, any day of the week, in time for this long Lenten break. CYRI is a combination of the syllables CY, derived from the word cyber, and RI, taken from the word crime. There are 18 official public holidays in the Philippines and this 2023, there are 12 long weekends resulting from the 18 official public holidays and the holiday economics policy enforced by the government, according to the company. To refresh everyone’s memory, the $81-million Bangladesh Bank heist back in 2016 is an example of a successful cyber attack, which happened on the first day of the Lunar New Year, a national holiday in the Philippines and the rest of Asia,” Kaspersky said. As the country goes into its annual long Lenten holidays this week, Kaspersky reminded cyber and social media-savvy Filipino netizens to be wary of the mischief that cyber hackers will be up to as they ramp up their activities during the extended break.

Holy Wednesday: Jesus betrayed by Judas (The Manila Times)

That is why it has been called the Field of Blood to this day. So they decided to use the money to buy the potter's field as a burial place for foreigners. Tuesday of Holy Week: Two Traitors With One Big Difference (National Catholic Register)

SCRIPTURES & ART: Judas clung to his sin, but St. Peter recognized his need for forgiveness.

The other clung to his sin, refused to ask forgiveness of the only one capable of fixing his problem and, in his pride, hung himself. It is interesting that, in his Gospel Luke makes the observation that, after having unsuccessfully tempted Jesus in the desert, the devil “departed from him for a time” (4:13). Her insistence and the support of others triggers the rest of Peter’s fervent denials. Earlier in John (9:4), in connection with healing the man born blind, Jesus reminds us that work — his work, God’s work — must be done during the day because, “when night comes, no man can work.” Nicodemus came to Jesus at night (John 2:2) and Jesus tells him that, though he had come into the world, “men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil” (2:19). John reports Jesus making predictions about the failure of two of his Apostles. The Gospels for Mass on the first days of Holy Week set the stage (albeit not necessarily chronologically) for the immediate events leading to Jesus’ Passion and Death.

We are those who have betrayed Jesus, just as Judas did (America Magazine)

A Reflection for Tuesday of Holy Week, by Jill Rice.

Although we betray and deny Jesus, we can repent of our sins and turn back to him again and again. Instead of blaming others, we have to take responsibility for our actions that crucify Jesus every day: our sins. But when Jesus says “one of you will betray me,” I fear he should have said more than just “one” of you—”all of you will betray me” is much more accurate. We know that due to our tendency to sin, we, who, like Judas, know and love Jesus as a friend and savior, will betray him at some point. I have a tendency to look at what Judas is about to do and judge him harshly for it—he is betraying the Son of God who is his friend and whom he has followed for years. It’s not like he is a random Roman centurion who stands watch as Jesus is crucified; he has made this decision with the knowledge of who Jesus is, of his mercy and forgiveness, of his fulfillment of the prophecies of old.

Pope Francis said that Judas’ love for money “led him beyond the rules: to stealing, and from stealing to betraying, there is only one step, a very small one.” The pope also pointed out that Jesus never called Judas a traitor.
