April's full moon is nicknamed the "Pink Moon" but it has nothing to do with the actually hue of our sole natural satellite in the sky.
Also, the best time to see a more colorful moon will be while it is on the horizon. You look to the horizon as the full moon is rising just after sunset and it appears to be some blazing variation of pink, orange or reddish. Smoke, haze and ash can travel quite far down wind in substantial enough quantities to affect the appearance of the full moon.
