Fortunately, despite the intensity of the quake, there is no tsunami threat to the Philippines as confirmed by Phivolcs on Friday. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reassured the public that the country is not at risk of a tsunami following the seismic activity in the Mariana Islands.

The depth of the earthquake was recorded at 222.0 kilometers (136.7 miles), with 38 individuals reporting feeling the tremors. The event caused a stir in the region, highlighting the unpredictability of natural disasters in these areas. Moreover, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center noted the 6.8 magnitude quake that shook the Maug Islands, emphasizing the seismic activity in the Northern Mariana Islands.

In a separate report, an earthquake of similar magnitude, 6.7 on the Richter scale, also hit the Mariana Islands. The depth of this quake was documented at 266 km, adding to the series of seismic events in the region.
