As the Christmas season approaches, many traditions begin to usher in the spirit of joy and anticipation. One such beautiful tradition is the Advent Wreath, a seasonal symbol that marks the countdown to Christmas. At St. Peter’s, we invite you to pull up a chair and gather virtually for our special Advent Wreath Candle Lighting Liturgy, happening every Sunday at 5:30 PM on our Facebook Page. This welcoming event will be led by the beloved Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Kaeton, who will guide us through this reflective and heartwarming ceremony.

The Advent Wreath is circular in shape, symbolizing eternity, and is adorned with evergreen to represent the everlasting life found in Christ. Each week, a new candle is lit, illuminating the path toward greater hope, peace, joy, and love. As the candles flicker to life, we take a moment to center our hearts and minds amidst the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Rev. Dr. Kaeton’s gentle guidance weaves together prayers and reflections, making each Sunday a cherished occasion to gather with our community—near or far.

What makes this gathering even more special is the warm, friendly community we create online. Although we are not together in person, the spirit of togetherness shines brightly through our screens. We believe in the power of connection, and each week brings new faces and friends ready to share in this meaningful experience. Whether you've attended in previous years or are new to this beautiful tradition, everyone is welcome to join us and light a candle in honor of their hopes for the season.

So mark your calendars and prepare to light up your Sundays! Our Advent Wreath Candle Lighting Liturgy is not just about the candles; it’s about fostering a nurturing community, extending love, and sharing the beauty of the season together. Let's shine brightly like the Advent candles and illuminate each other's hearts this Christmas!

Did you know that the tradition of the Advent Wreath dates back to the 16th century? Initially, it was made from simple green branches with candles, each symbolizing light in the darkness of winter. Today, it serves as a reminder of the hope and joy that the Advent season brings!

Also, the four candles represent hope, peace, joy, and love—qualities that we all need more of, especially during the holiday season. Lighting these candles each week can ignite a sense of anticipation and reflection as we move closer to celebrating Christmas Day!
