I remember early mornings spent making heart-shaped pancakes with my family, topped with strawberry jam, which was our little tradition. After breakfast, my siblings and I would gather in the barn, where we would decorate it with balloons and streamers in every shade of pink and red we could find. Our parents would join in our preparations, sharing stories about their own childhood Valentine’s Day experiences, creating a sense of nostalgia that would fill the air with warmth and laughter.

For instance, one Valentine’s Day, I convinced my best friend to join me in a romantic picnic near the old oak tree, where we laid out the most delicious spread of homemade treats. Today, in the Philippines, it’s celebrated in grandiose ways, with romantic dinners and extravagant gifts! It's a beautiful way of recognizing love in all its forms, making it an occasion that truly celebrates both romantic and platonic love, just like my childhood memories on the ranch!
